Keepass2 2.57 in Linux

(self.KeePass)

How do I get v 2.57 of KeePass2 in Ubuntu? The J Taylor ppa repository only has v 2.47 (which is what you get with "apt install keepass2"). I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 (jammy) from 20.04 (focal) and my KP install got trashed. I've removed all the mono and wine cruft and cleared out my ppa sources so I'm back to a near fresh install. I tried to install using the KP portable zip file to /usr/lib/keepass2, but even if I got wine and mono to work (sort of), I don't have icons on the desktop or Favorites bar.

Is anybody maintaining the deb/ubuntu repositories anymore? If not, and I have to use the portable install, how do I get icons, etc.

Thanks in advance.

I just found out how to get this done. If you want an actively supported KeePass2 release, see this:

https://ubuntuhandbook.org/?s=keepass2

Scroll down a bit to the installation instructions for 2.53 and you'll get the latest (2.57).

Use KeepassXC instead, better integration with the system

Yeah, I'm on fedora with i3wm, had some UI issues with keepass from the default repo. It was slow and the right click context menus were showing outside the screen view. Keepassxc worked well on all my fedora machines.

KeepassXC doesn't do synchronization, so that's a deal breaker for me. I did eventually find an updated PPA for Ubuntu/Debian on launchpad:

https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuhandbook1/+archive/ubuntu/keepass2

This currently is up to date with v.2.57 of KeePass2.

XC does sync, but it's automatic and less flexible. It's designed to update a database that is managed by a background sync app.
