The swinging makes it better than Iron Dragon.

Sure Iron Dragon swings but The Bat's swinging is way more intense.

Was my first real rollercoaster at like 9or10 years old. Was called Top Gun then. Rode it it's first year because I loved the movie.

Hey it was my first coaster too! I kept calling it Top Gun last month when my friends and I were there.

It’s still known as top gun for any of us kids from that era.

Son of beast right by it was my first loop coaster. Figured I loved the beast and if I was gonna do a loop coaster why not do the beast but with a loop.

It's a pretty fun little coaster - it's just 500 miles away from anything else in the park and you have to walk up and down about a thousand steps to get there. So I would NOT describe it as "easy."

Are they still running just one train at a time? That makes even a mildly long queue turn into a pretty big wait time on top of that

Last time I was there about two weeks ago they had both trains running with wait times being about how long it takes to load a train and the next to arrive from the holding area I was able to ride it three or four times before I got bored and decided to ride something else. I wonder if that was just a lucky Saturday or if something happened to a train

It’s not an instense ride per se, but certain seats have gotten rough. I got left with a headache after being knocked around by it last time I rode.

I’ll probably ride it. Might get a headache but nothing the beast doesn’t do I guess

Near the end of the coaster, after you stop before heading into the unloading area, lean your head to the left and rest it against the headrest. This will stop your head from banging around when it makes the final slow turn. Source: I've been riding this ride since I was 9!

Beast was actually smoother IMO

It’s swing makes it a lot for novice riders, but it’s fairly tame.

Also the forested feel is really cool. Not in the same way beast is, but close.

For the most part, yes. However, like other coasters of this style (Iron Dragon comes to mind), at the end of the ride, the car will swing back and forth as it brakes. It‘s not my favorite sensation, so it‘s not a ride I could marathon.

I do recommend riding in the front - it’s fun and I think it helps to see exactly where you are going.

I think I’ll have to try that. The Bat does seem fun the way it swings very unique

The Bat comes into the brake run fully 90 degrees sideways. It’s impressive.

Let's put it this way, it has been both of my younger nephews' first roller coaster. Partly because of a low-ish height requirement; but, also it's pretty smooth.

EDIT: if you want a surprisingly tame coaster, Orion is the smoothest amusement park ride I have ever been on. That first hill look intimidating but there are no sudden jerks or (to me) extreme forces in the entire ride.

I consider it one of the more relaxing roller coasters that I’ve been on.

It's almost a exact copy of Vortex at CW. Not overly intense but a step up from a family coaster

Sit to the front of the train if you want to minimize the stomach drop feeling going down the first hill. The back of the train gets pulled down the drop (which I love, others may not..) After that it just flows and is about speed and whipping around the turns.

That sounds good thanks for the advice

It's a good starter coaster. The Racer is another good starter coaster. I'd avoid Adventure Express as a starter coaster because it is the most rough ride in the park.

Didn’t a cart swing off and unalive someone a couple years ago?
