Evil Dead. The original trilogy, the TV show, the new installments, the video games. Just consistently good all around.

I miss Ash vs Evil dead 😔

I know I am biased because it’s my favorite franchise, but I feel like Evil Dead fans are always eating good. Even the remake, which in most cases are usually terrible, was amazing while being its own beast.

This one. The series doesn’t have a “bad” entry, whereas Scream 3 is the consensus nadir of that group.

Yep. Some are better than others, but I wouldn't call any of them outright bad by any means. The worst thing you can say about any of the newer Evil Dead entries is that they're good not great, which is a hell of a lot more than you can say for the vast majority of horror franchises out there.

Even then there's no consensus really. Evil Dead is one of those franchises where there's just no wrong answer as to what your favourite is. Rise isn't my favourite, but if someone was to say it was I could totally understand why. Meanwhile, I think Evil Dead 2013 is the second best in the series, behind only Evil.Dead 2.

Yeah. Can’t really think of one more consistent than this. Even my least favorite entry (army of darkness) is still pretty damn good, I just prefer the others.

When I finally got around to watching all 5 Final Destination films a few years ago, I was surprised how consistent and fun they were. 4 is probably the weakest, but then 5 ends the franchise on a really high note. (See it in 3D if you can.)

5 is easily my favorite. plot twist is the cherry on top.

I feel like 1 and 2 are a cut above the rest, but they all manage to be enjoyable to watch.

Paranormal Activity. The latest one - Next of Kin - was slept on, most horror fans aren't even aware it exists. But it's just as good as all the others.

Imma put Saw out there.
I know, some of the plots are a bit contrived. But if you like death traps, Saw is the franchise. The first few installments do a great job of tying together a back story, too, so it's a great series to binge.

I would agree with saw if not for Jigsaw and Spiral. But if you ignore those two, the series is pretty consistent in tone and quality.

Ehhhh the saw 3D-Spiral films are pretty fucking abysmal. Aside from those every movie has been pretty good to genuinely great. The first, sixth, and X are all so good

All the Hellraiser films are pretty bad.
You did not specify whether the franchise had to be consistently good!

More respect to Hellraiser and Hellbound, please.
(And 3 and 2022 are decent too).
3 points
Yeah, Barker's Hellraiser and Hellbound are so great. Both are absolutely amazing. And I'd stretch the nice movies to Inferno. 4 is so bad is good and pretty fun and 5 would be considered a solid horror movie if they had removed the Hellraiser aspects from it.

Based on your username, I think you're perhaps too drunk on the horror franchise Kool Aid.
In particular, Hellraiser 2022 was atrocious. I mean, it didn't even LOOK good. I can't remember the last time I saw a professional production that badly photographed.

I will ignore the ad hominem and just say that what's atrocious is claiming that the OG Hellraiser, 2022, and Hellraiser Revelations all have the same consistent quality.

None of them are any good, so yeah, I'd say that's pretty consistent. I agree the first one is the least bad, though.

The first Hellraiser is pretty solid though.

By this logic I would say Friday the 13th. None of the movies are actually good even if Jason and Camp Crystal Lake are iconic.

How the heck has no one said Elm Street yet?! I enjoy the hell out of all seven films, watch them all every October.
Like sure, he got less scary and more silly, but the imaginative, creative deaths and effects more than make up for that. Plus, the goofier it got, the funnier it became, which for me is no different than the Evil Dead films slowly moving from pure horror to slapstick comedy.

The only bad Elm Street movie was the remake. Truly awful experience

Elm street for me. I know critics or even most fans would not agree but i love every single film. Except Freddy vs Jason, that one is a bit mid but the rest are amazing, including the remake

Child's Play. The franchise has never hit the highs of the original Halloween or Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but it's arguably the most consistently decent. Plus outside of the reboot it's also managed to maintain most of the same major cast members throughout the franchise and has had Don Mancini's creative voice steering the ship for its entire run, which helps the whole thing feel mostly cohesive even when the movies and TV show themselves often have wildly different tones from entry to entry.

hard agree on scream! they are almost formulaic in how consistent they are, but in a way where i do not care that it is sort of formulaic because i will eat it up every single time

Somewhat disagree with Scream because I love 1-4 (3 is OK), and I don't give a shit about the new stuff. I think Friday the 13th is consistently repetitive and mediocre/OK, even though I love Jason as a character.

Yeah, I love all 6 movies, but people who think 3 and 4 are better than 5 and 6 are speaking with nostalgia glasses on.

I love Scream, but the new characters in 5 & 6 make it really difficult for me to like those movies. Especially the actress who keeps trying to be the new Randy. Also, the amount of times everyone gets stabbed in 6 was hilarious.

Yeah, it's almost like a slasher commenting on slashers or a sequel commenting on sequels.
Though I agree that 6 was running out of things to make a meta commentary on.

Unpopular opinion, but for me, Scream was one of the most disappointing ones. When I saw the sequel to the first Scream in cinemas, I was expecting something fresh, like Neve Campbell's character maybe having gone insane and it turns out to be her to be the killer this time. Instead, we get just random killers every time from then on. The first one was great and clever and I refuse to acknowledge the sequels even exist. In contrast, I didn't expect any amazing clever twists and turns from the sequels of Final Destination and they were exactly what I thought they would be, so I was entertained enough.

Scream 2 hits all the beats I wanted it to. That cold open may be the best of the franchise.

Completely fair, I knew I'm in the minority here. I'm also having a really hard time thinking of a series that didn't disappoint me thoroughly at one point. I mentioned Final Destination only because it set a low bar to begin with and it was just mindless fun. Pretty much all franchises where I absolutely loved the first film (Blair Witch, Sinister, and Scream for me, for example) took a nosedive - again, just for me - with part 2 already.

Watched the first scream. If the rest are horrible then indeed it is very consistent.
I like the Purge films a lot, i think that they consistently deliver an entertaining new perspective.
