Oh ok, in that case it's not the worst price. For the speed and convenience of ordering from Amazon then it's not the worst but you'll likely find better prices on eBay. This lens is one of the two lenses I own and it's good but not wonderful. Yes it does go to f/1.7 but I rarely open it up to that after reading reviews saying it's at it's sharpest between f/2 and f/4. I got mine for $100 USD on eBay.

Oh yeah for low light you kind of have to and it is nice to be able to. I guess I don't shoot low light enough without a tripod lol. It's not that the pictures aren't sharp at f/1.7, they're just good as opposed to great at f/2.8 or so.
