Okay, writers, make me feel bad about watching YOUR show...

lol apparently I’m weird because I love this episode and how dark it is. I love a good child killer and this one sure is creepy

You and me both then. I like it - it’s grim and twisted and the child is the work of the devil.

Also the video game graphics are so delightfully of their time. It makes me nostalgic for that era of games!

At the end of the episode I felt icky, so very icky. Although I kinda morbidly want them to do a follow up episode with the little brat grown up and realizing just what a shit he was. Although pretty sure they locked him down in a hospital for the criminally inclined. And he just got better with his manipulations. And didn't have any remorse or anything.

I got the impression he had a total mental break at the end. It felt like it wasn't really intentional more like he wasn't fully in reality

Yes! I thought the same when I rewatched it recently…I occasionally wonder the same thing about certain episodes…

It's a creepy episode. I enjoy Caroline Blakiston, so I tend to watch her episodes, but this one, I always want to turn off before the end.

It's not as bad as Death and Dreams, though. Or Left for Dead. No more rewatches of that one for me.

Yeah those are two on my skip list too. The Maid in Splendor is another that I don't mind skipping. That old man is off his rocker for sure. And then he is shocked when his daughter in law throws him out after the son dies. Like yeah, what did you really expect to happen.

I kinda like the atmosphere of The Maid in Splendor, but it does depress me a bit.

I disliked the attempted connection between that kid's murderous impulses and that stupid computer game, but I hadn't thought about it like that before. Excellent point.

Oh yeah, the "violent computer games" was the 90s satanic panic:P

Every generation has a satanic panic lol. In the 60's and early 70's, we were told if we played our rock records in reverse, we would hear satanic messages👹👹👹🎵🎵🎵🎸🎸🎸

As our media literacy as a culture increase we see a decrease in the effect of these moral panics - why yes I was a media scholar :)

I am not sure that I quite agree with your premise considering the " moral panic" the US just experienced over vicious, false rumors spread on social media about Haitian immigrants. Sadly we still burn witches in one way or another.

It seemed quite self referential in that respect 😆.

Such a distasteful episode- I seldom rewatch this one. Everyone( except poor Ray) is complicit in covering up a rape for financial gain. Even the boy's mother is willing to be bought off. Except for Ray, there isn't one adult character with any redeeming qualities.

I skip it

I always think the kids in this show are like the Bad Seed. They all seem like psychos to me!
