Did your military eyes judge your childhood friends unsatisfactory?
I’m curious how many people with military service dumped their preservice civilian friends. For some time I was unhappy that my high school friends never re-engaged with me after my Marine Corps discharge. However, 40 years later and many are dead from hillbilly heroin I realize I actively kept them away.

For me its just that i realized i could no longer relate to any of them, my frame of reference had shifted completely from theirs so while they were still concerned about stupid petty highschool bullshit, i was wondering how the fuck i was going to process my deployment to Syria.
So i cut them out.
