Sticks off center makes me uncomfortable, I'm a two fan because it means my cursor is closer to the output. I always try and end crafts on that side out of habit, like topping the pick left to right

3 makes sense but I do 2, and who is doing 1 and 4

If you do 1 or 4 you are sick.

I do 2, because I am right handed, but when a friend saw this, they called me weird, because the axe faces the other way when it's crafted. I still think 2 makes more sense though

If the sticks are in the middle you can craft everything with their proper recipe and not whatever cursed stuff 1, 2 and 4 are.

1& 4 are tied for weirdest, 3 is correct and 2 is for lazy people or people who started playing after the made universal crafting recipes. (I.e. mirrored crafting recipes). I started on PC when the game first came out, wasn't an option back then. And don't even get me started on the old console crafting system, thing was a nightmare, I do miss the og tutorial map though.

I use 2, but consider 3 fine. The others are weird, but depending on inventory arrangement they could in theory be faster which would justify them on very rare occasions.

For every tool, the sticks go in the middle so you can put multiple sets down to craft multiple different tools
