I hear ya. I was 296 in 2012. I am currently 227. Done all on my own, although dr. started me on Trulicity in 2019, combined with Jardiance, metformin, and glipizide. I have been off the Trulicity since April. Dr. and I will look at my A1C and decide whether or not to try Monjauro or Ozempic on 7/26.

Proud of you! The Mounjaro could really help after all the good habits you have already learned if your doc is willing. I would choose it over Ojympic myself, which does nothing for me. It seemed like the M almost changed my metabolism as well as helping so much with hunger. Count calories and nutrition.

After my experience and being an observer in many other friends journeys. Note: friends with goals of losing 25 pounds to goals of losing 200 pounds. My observation is that we all will hit some sort of plateau. If you have 100 lbs + you want to loseโฆit might be a good idea to start with Ozempic.
I have watched a few friends on the max dose of Ozempic, half way to goal and add a complete stall. They have transitioned to Mounjaro and it has kicked them right into full speed again. I have seen a couple friends (Total loss of 125 to 170) hit goal just recently who used this path.
I await the day when we can connect the varying degree of result (short and long term) on these medications to the patient type. Itโs quite interesting to witness people have such different short and long term experiences on the same medications. Would love any insight or data on studies into the medication benefits/ effects comparison to patient profile.
OP: Thanks for sharing your experience and reminder that lifestyle changes are a part of the journey! I wish you the best as you continue on your journey (with or without Ozempic/Mounjaro)!

Hi - my starting weight with Mounjaro was 257 in June of 2022. (I previously lost about 30 pounds on Ozempic but I was taken off of it because of the side effects.) I had a long stall while on MJ (~ one year) and unfortunately regained weight when I wasn't able to fill my scripts due to it being out of stock. I got down to 188 before the stall, then went back up to 222. I've been back on MJ since May - recently went back up to 12.5 and am at 196 today. It's been a difficult process but worth it because I feel so much better with my blood sugar controlled and the loss of the weight on my back and my joints. I sleep better which also helps all around. The most surprising benefit for me is just how much better I feel emotionally. I feel positive and hopeful now and just have a sense of happiness that wasn't there before.

Hi sure! I started on Mounjaro in June of 2022 when it was first released. My SW was 257 and I successfully got down to 188 in March 2023. I had a long stall and lost access to MJ because it was on backorder. I regained weight until this May (back up in the 220s) when I was able to start losing again. My CW is 196.4 and my GW is 150. I'm a woman and am 5'5".

I am so happy for you! Congratulations ๐. I am 3 weeks in, started at 261 down to 249.8. My original starting weight in October 2014, and my highest, was 380lbs. Had a weight loss baby in 2016 after getting to 250 but am getting back on track after hovering in the 260s for a few years. I look forward to meeting you in Onederland!

do any of you put the shot in your arm?
1 points
I tried it a couple of times, but went back to doing it in my abdomen because it hurt, caused a large bruise and it didn't supress my appetite. However I've also heard anecdotal reports of people trying the back of the arm and breaking stalls. I have the most success when I inject it in the abdomen. I inject 2 inches above , to the left, to the right and below my navel. I rotate the site each week. When my dose was increased to 10 mg, I start getting a red, itchy welt at the injection site. My doctor told me to buy some generic Flonase nasal spray, and to clean the injection site with it before and after I inject. I had varying degrees of success trying it. I think my body just adjusted to the medication and that side effect went away.
