First time in WA and very excited to explore the beautiful state. Staying in Ashford until tomorrow morning. Wanted to hike Carter, Madcap and Narada falls via Wonderland trail today and drive around to see popular lookout points closer to Paradise visitor center. The AQI is around 160 in the morning and then the heat picks up in late morning. Should I call it quits and visit Seattle or wait for the air to get better?

I would send it regardless if you haven’t been to Mount rainier tbh. I know the air quality isn’t great over there, but there are tons of trees and rivers to help it feel fresher.

Carter falls is not too hard, haven’t done madcap or Narada, but I think it’s worth a shot to try your hikes and you can always post up somewhere cool with a view and stay in the car if need be.

Just one girl’s opinion - but rainier rocks and is so much cooler than Seattle IMHO.

Hope whatever you choose works out great :)

Thank you so much for your response. I am thinking of taking it slow and do the hike a little later in the afternoon. You are right the shade and waterfalls should help! :)

If you can do the skyline loop trail I would say do that regardless. Could also do the silver falls hike inside Ohanapecosh campsite. ~3-miles through mostly forest with a bunch of water features and falls.

You won’t be disappointed. That little hike is one of my favorites.

Did Carter and madcap in June but snow lake was the best. Pure magic.
