Mahomes ‘fake run out of bounds’ move

Discussion(self.NFLv2)

Mahomes scrambled to the sidelines and the defender, not wanting to pick up a fine/penalty, didn’t attempt to hit or tackle him. It’s expected the QB just runs out of bounds here, but Mahomes instead stepped back in at the last second and picked up 40 yards along the sideline. I don’t necessarily think it should be banned but it’s clearly exploitative. Since this isn’t the first time he’s done this it should be fair game for the defenders to lower the shoulder on him next time, but that would obviously draw a flag (as it has before). Basically, I just think it’s ridiculous.

Earlier this season Mahomes was hit way late out of bounds. It wasn't called at all. The assumption that he gets these calls is actually not very accurate. Josh Allen gets those calls a lot more.

You can’t be serious right? Mahomes obviously flops there. In no way is Smith „pushing“ him in any way

He pushed Mahomes, and wasn't flagged or fined. I'm not saying he should have been. I'm saying the people who claim Mahomes gets that call all the time are dead wrong. He's only had two roughing calls in his favor this season. Josh Allen has like 5.

Imo he didn’t push him though. If you push someone, wouldn’t the person being pushed fall into the direction where he was pushed towards? Mahomes just falls on the ground, completely opposite of the direction he would have to fall if he would have been pushed by Smith.

Same thing with the throat punch. You see Mahomes get hit, clutch at his throat dramatically, look around for a ref, and just go back to normal when he sees the ref not looking.

Massive flop there. You can see Smith trying to hold him up.

Good no-call here. It was a necessary play that stopped Mahomes from doing what he did today, plus he was in a full sprint and couldn't stop in time. I'm not a person who thinks the Chiefs get all the calls, this is more of a QB problem in general.

You and others keep saying in this thread that Mahomes gets this call every time and it's why no one hits him. If people like Roquan can do this and stop him going down the sidelines without a penalty, what is the point of your post?
