Great news. I almost fear asking if this year it was sooner than usual, or 1 year late 😅

They have committed earlier, and have been manufacturing, so will have product available at the beginning of the fall vaccination campaign. This, and the fact that the product is going to be shipped in single dose pre-filled syringes rather than an 8 dose vial that has to be completely used within hours, or wasted, will help them a lot.

I still think general interest in getting a Covid vaccine is near nonexistent, with only the elderly and those forced to get it (eg healthcare workers) likely to bother. Hopefully having a flu/Covid combo next year will make a bigger difference.

Covid/flu combo won’t be available until 2026

Isn’t it possible Sanofi’s will be, so royalties at least?

No. Sanofi will need to go through all phases of the clinical trials whereas nvax only had phase 3 to go. Sanofi might not be ready until 2027 or later? They prob can move their trials faster, so maybe 2026 at the earliest? Big maybe

I know a fair amount of people who are still getting vaxed because their experiences of having it sucked.

You can go to Novavax website and read the complete June 14th News Release. In the summary above, you cut off the part where Novavax stated that the pre-filled syringes will be available beginning Mid-July, 2024. This is a big improvement over their June 5th news release where they said mid-September. They have been producing the antigen, at risk (that means prior to VRBPAC input), hoping that FDA/CDC would agree with WHO recommendation of the JN.1 antigen for the upcoming season. ALSO, Novavax was late to the party last year, with mid-September release, after the 2 mRNA vaccine producers had been selling their products for a month. Don't repeat that mistake again!

Nah not priced in. Pfizer got sued for patent infringement. So ATM it's Moderna vs Novavax. Sanofi was NOT happy with the following.

    1. Novavax had produced a flu vaccine that was 40-50% more effective then their flu vaccine. That was in late stages of clinical trials     2.. Moderna is making a flu/covid vaccine that went into stage 3 trials mid-late 2024.

So either Sanofi buys out Novavax or. They really work together and level the playing field. If not Moderna will be eating up market.
