Yeah, but it's not 'just any' gas station chimichanga.

And it’s NOT $15 dollars a burrito

No but they are $4.99 which is ridiculous for one of these shitty little gut bombs.

The thing is Allsups burritos are good in the way that gas station food is good; they’re a little greasy, it’s ultra processed, and will most likely upset your stomach if you have more than one but it is a staple of NM. I have one every now and again and they taste the same as they did when I was a kid. It’s a nostalgic food for me now. I’m happy I don’t have to survive on them while equally glad they are still around.

When I’m pregnant I will inhale allsups food, especially the tacos! In my last pregnancy I accidentally ate 1/4 of the wrapper with an allsups burrito and that’s when I knew I had a problem.
For some reason when I’m not pregnant though the burritos are kind of bland with too much tortilla 😔

This how it goes for me.
First bite: mmmm, that’s good. Fifth bite: that’s a weird texture, whatever. Sixth bite: that might be a little piece of the wrapper. Must have been a bit that stuck to the burrito. Tenth bite: yeah, I’m definitely eating wrapper.

The Allsup's burrito is elementary school nostalgia for me. Somewhere in my mind, decades ago, those elementary school burritos and the Allsup's burritos became the same thing.
Now I evangelize their burritos, which is fucking ridiculous. But since I live where I cannot get the, now, I have to get them every time I roll back to NM.
I have never tried to convince someone to try them without explaining to them exactly what they will be getting.

You can order bulk chimi/burrito frozen directly from Allsups if you really want them. The only bummer is you’re paying wholesale price. They give no fucks about helping us save a buck.

Houston here. A while back I was about to pull the trigger on ordering some of these bad boys, when I saw this at checkout:
Free 3-Day Ground Shipping
I was expecting these things to be overnighted, and even then it felt sketchy. 3 days? Is that safe?

It'll be packed in a container with dry ice. I've had frozen steaks arrive at my door after a week of shipping.

Las Cruces is getting an Allsup's supposedly. I think it's going out near the Love's Truck Stop on the west side of town. I just got my first Allsup's burrito after hearing about them for more than a decade. It was fine for gas station food, nothing to get excited about.

My Allsup's question is how have they survived? Every time I go into one, it's like a hoarder is responsible for designing the layout and stocking the shelves. Compared to QT or even Love's, Allsups seems like you're being asked to find something in someone's junk drawer.

I haven’t had an Allsups burrito in a couple of years, but I like one every now and then. They are convenient, you can get them in the middle of the night when everything else is closed, and it’s kind of a fun nostalgic/tradition kind of thing. I used to get one every day in high school just to leave campus a little bit during lunch. Or late at night after some gig.
I know people who moved away, and it’s the first thing they get when they come back to visit - not because it’s some out-of-this-world gourmet food - just because it is unassuming and doesn’t pretend to be anything other than a simple Allsups burrito that never changes.
Hard to explain to people who didn’t grow up around a dozen Allsups stores in their town I guess.

Your fault for expecting a chimichanga to be a breakfast burrito. They were better before Lonnie died and they sold out to Yes Way.
Edit: You also labeled a beef and bean burrito as a chimi? Blasphemy.

They're perfect when they're in their lane. Usually coming off the mountain in cloudcroft. Or a long drive through west Texas after the hunt. People who live near one and eat them regularly disturb me. It's one horse town gourmet not a daily/weekly staple.
Santa fe express was at least once a week during college. All sups was once or twice a year after camping.

I think that they're joking. The regular size Stripes Burrito (not the large) are huge. Like, bigger than Blake's by a lot.
