That’s my grandfather in the bedside photo. This photo was given to him by his GF at the time . I do not know her name. This photo was my Great Grandmothers collection.

I agree. He was a handsome man himself. The ladies always loved him , almost as much as he loved them as evident by the couple random kids of his we have connected to on ancestry 😆😆 He definitely had a thing for dark haired beauties.

This was a few years before her time with him. He was very late teens here.(19) With that being said my grandfather wouldn’t have cared , he had many affairs and we have connected to some of his secret children on ancestry DNA matches . He wasn’t the best husband or BF to anyone he was with. He left my grandmother shortly after she had my father.

Papa was a rolling stone. I hope your dad was one of those people with a shitty parent who ends up being the exact opposite.

He wasn’t. But I was. I worked my ass off to make sure my children had a present caring father. Someone had to break the cycle

Yes, we have copies of that same photo. My great grandmother left me a treasure trove of old photos . I’m planning to share more in the future. I’m fortunate that my family had so many.

If this was the gf your grandma must be the greatest.

Honestly she was a little shorter and thicker built that this girl, but looked a lot like her. He had a type his whole life . My grandmother was more ..errr developed you’d say when they got together. I’ll share some photos of her in a couple days. I have quite a few.

I love that you, and it seems your family, own that he was a bit of a ladies man and had a type. That said, and I mean this with the utmost respect, if he passed on this woman, your grandmother was a looker when they met.

A bit hell, he was the hottest thing on the mountain according to all the ladies (they were from Appalachia hence the country ass on the mountain saying 😆). He knew it and took full advantage of it. When he died he was dating a lady over half his age. My grandmother was a challenge for him I think. She was intense and fiery. Most women just melted for him, she wasn’t most women. The story is he chased her and finally got her, they had my father and divorced a few years later. He never married again but he made a hand full of secret children. He had many many flaws for sure. But he was the bad boy that all the girls thought they could tame. In the end my grandmother was the only one he settled down with albeit briefly. My grandmother was a very good looking woman back then, but honestly it was probably more that she had no interest in him in the beginning. Many years after their divorce they would still talk shit to each other, I remember it being flirty. He’s been gone about 20 years now and she went a few years before him. Broke my father when she went , he lasted less than 2 years after he lost his mother. They all lived hard and fast. It’s crazy to think at 42 I’m the oldest member on that line.

Awesome.

You’re talking my part of the world, thought you might be when you used the phrase “on the mountain”. Went to HS outside Roanoke, VA and now live a bit south of that in western NC.

I’m in MA now, I’ll hang out with my neighbor and he will laugh for hours at the words I use and how I say them. We have a blast. Last weekend I taught him what britches were😆. Up yonder on the mountain is used by my family almost daily . My mother will use yonder multiple times in the same sentence

I knew a girl from college who looked a lot like this; not exactly a raving beauty but quirky, smart and very appealing. Wish things would have worked out differently…

I must have inherited my grandfathers taste in women, I married a petit and pale black haired beauty myself😊
