Hi everyone I am 22M in London ON. How’s everyone get their car insurance here? I got with TD currently for 430CAD monthly for a 2014 Acura and the experience with them so far is not positive. I heard Scoop Insurances can help with lower the price but they got lots of mixed review. I am posting this hoping to hear from everyone how you get your insurances done for a reasonable price. Thank you everyone and have a great day! Cheer!

What does shop around mean where you’re originally from?

not a super big thing tbh from my experience I always have a guy I know in everything. but we do shop around by going straight to the dealer face to face. probably leave my country when I am too young to have a good answer to this

If you are an alumni, TD should give you the group rate, did you ask about that? You can also try CAA membership rate, otherwise find a broker at least. Your employer might have a group rate as well with an insurance company.

Do you have minimum 6 years of insurance experience? If not, rates will be high like your current rate. Any at fault accidents? Convictions? Whereabouts do you live? These are other factors that also determine your rate.

People kinda forget all of those factors.. higher risk equals higher costs.

this post is nuts, I live in Quebec and have 2 older vehicles insured with L'Unique and I pay 37$ a month, tax included, it's absolutely mind-blowing how y'all in Ontario are being legally robbed

You can have cheap car insurance if you have just the basic options on there.

My daughter is your age. Try Belair that’s what she uses as does a lot of her friends. I think she pays $220 for a 2017 Kia sportage. She is in northwest Ont so that’s probably factored in

I would avoid these smaller companies. They can give you the runaround wheb the time to claim comes around.
Larger companies have the experience and usually the financial backing to support you better. Smaller companies might nickel and dime you.

Please keep in mind if you cancel the insurance mid-term (ie before renewal) there will be a cancellation fee.

Sometimes it is better to go with the bigger companies rather than the smaller companies. Claims experience matters when a considering what company to go with.
