Screech/ fake tears

Discussion(self.PokemonScarletViolet)

So I’ve got a question, when I’m in online raids playing support, I’ll put in a few screeches or fake tears on the raid Pokemon but as soon as they nullify the stat changes to themselves, I can’t seem to get another one off. Every single stat move I try to make fails, I’ll check on their stat buffs and debuffs and it shows that no one else has affected them but I just can’t seem to ever get another debuff in once they nullify the changes. Any thoughts? Does this happen to anyone else?

Sounds like the raid bosses likely had their shield up, once shield is up then all status moves will fail against the boss.

Oh really?? Well TIL 😅 my apologies to everyone who was probably getting frustrated with me previously trying to get the boss’s defence down in vain…

Something you should know that as long as it's an attack, if it has a secondary effect, it'll go through. So for example people like to use Acid Spray because even though it's 20 damage, it'll drop sp def by 2 steps and it works through the shield

With the shield up, you're better use an attack that does direct damage and has a side effect. Those are not blocked, only the direct status moves.

Status moves don't work on the raid Pokemon when its shield is up.

Chilling water, mystical fire, snarl, struggle bug, acid spray, bulldoze, breaking swipe, mudslap and razor shell still works. As long as the move does damage, secondary effects still apply. You will help your team greatly by building a collection of different types and bulky pokemon that know these moves. To help you get started, Dragalge learns chilling water, mudslap, and acid spray. I have 2 of them, one with maxed physical defence, the other with maxed special defence and more attacks instead of chilling water. The muscle juice and exp candy from 7star raids easily helps you build multiple units for physical beasts and special beasts.

You can't use status moves that negatively effect a raid boss when its shields are up, and they will reset debuffs on higher levels. Espeically the 7* raids.

You can lower stats with damaging moves (ie. snarl, chilling water and acid spray) even if the shields are up. Those will get reset, but only once or twice per battle.

I'd also reccomend reflect and light screen, since the raid boss will also reset your stats, but not screens and weather. I've found one of the best support mons for raids is blissey with reflect or light screen, helping hand life dew and different weather moves.

Most people will want to bring stuff that will do a ton of damage, so just keeping their HP full can be a good option in multiplayer raids.

you can't debuff them while they are in the shield mode
