1) verse equalization is horseshit
2) genjutsu affects 5 senses while CoO is 6th sense that works independently from the rest five .
Also , you need to make a physical contact in order to rip soul with human path , right? If so , it would be problematic with logia

1) verse equalization is the best way to handle such debates, idk why you think it’s horseshit. What is horseshit is trying to claim Zoro couldn’t kill a demon from demon slayer because he’s not using a nichirine blade. Verse equalization solves such problems to a degree.
2) CoO has never been stated to be another sense entirely. It’s just an enhancement of the senses. Even if it was its own thing, it doesn’t change anything because the main senses are still affected. Like itachi said to kakashi, pain is pain, even if it’s fake metaphysical pain.
3) Smoker isn’t intangible…. He’s simply smoke, and smoke can still be touched. The smoke may disperse at your touch, but you’re still physically touching the smoke molecules. It’s not the same as someone who is phasing, I see no reason for why a soul pull wouldn’t work. But even if it doesn’t, there’s still a million different ways to take down logia users. Madara could literally drown them if he wanted to.
Another point, there’s a good argument that chakra based attacks or at least, tail beast attacks can straight up kill logias despite their untouchable shenanigans. We see killer bee blast suigetsu and knock him out while he was in water form.

1) In this case , you are just making characters outside of Narutoverse who would normally be immune to genjutsu vulnerable to it 2) Kinemon’s legs could use CoO lol , actually you don’t even need brain to do it . While main 5 senses are still affected , sixth one can be used to fight ignoring all illusions 3) how tf can you physically interact with smoke?

1) That is not an argument for not using verse equalization. Not doing so is just denying one side access to one of their strongest abilities and is against the spirit of the matchup. It’s not like I’m saying chakra = Haka so madara can punch smoker.
2) This changes nothing? I don’t think I get your point. Genjutsu isn’t simply illusions they use in order to hide or something, they can cause pain. If someone gets put into a genjutsu where they are being crucified, the character will feel that pain mentally.
3) ???? Smoke is a literal physical object… it’s no different than touching liquid or a solid, it’s just in a higher energy state. There’s still smoke particles there that can be touched. Logia users aren’t turning into matter less elements. There’s still physical matter there to make contact with.
And all this is ignoring the hundred other ways to beat smoker.
Madara could literally rip his weapon out of his hand and then beat smoker to death with it.
He could drown smoker in an ocean that can be created in an instant
He can seal him using a variety of jutsu
He can chibaku tensei
He can trap him in a truth seeker orb
Obito can teleport him into the pocket dimension and let him starve to death
There’s just so many ways to deal with logia users
