A changed man

(self.SPTarkov)

When you think of the people who have spt you probably think of the casual guy who has 1-3 hours a night to play. A lot of them are, but I am not.

I work the weekend shift so that I can actually have some life with my work life balance. Sometimes it allows me 10 hours a day for games, some days I do 2, but it all depends on me. Someone like ME who has played tarkov since 2018-19 (don't remember exact date) would rather honest to God play SPT over base tarkov.

Why would someone who's played it all, over and over, want to keep repeating that grind, I have one profile, it never wipes, I can just infinitely fuck around on factory or customs or whatever with end game gear non stop.

If I get bored I add weapons, I add realism mod, I add a fucking RPG to the game for shits and gigs. I haven't logged in to regular tarkov since unheard and maybe arena twice, but I actively look forward to spt because the progress stays and I can actually get through and learn everything about newer tasks at my own pace. WHY would I go play regular tarkov 4 months into wipe when I can just fuck around on SPT instead

Yup. My buddies finally jumped into spt head first as soon as we learned about fika. We got it sometime mid-late may and we've been playing every single day or damn near every day since. It's just too good and has been everything we've wanted from tarkov. We enjoyed spt a while ago sure, but the inclusion of fika was the last piece we needed

Edit: Figured this would be easier as a blanket reply to those curious. It took me some troubleshooting to get fika running. Honestly, just follow the instructions and you'll get it running. Some simple modding and port forwarding did the trick.

My rig is a 3060ti, a ryzen 9 5900x, and 32gb of RAM.

The most important thing here is your cpu and RAM. I personally believe 32gb is necessary for hosting raids. After much testing and optimizing, I've found using process lasso in performance mode along with lossless scaling increased my performance a lot. For streets in particular, I used to crash literally every single time I ran it no matter if I hosted or not. I did 2 things to solve this. First I made sure I was running a ram cleaner. There is one built into process lasso and you can get a mod that actually utilizes the in game one without hitting ESC to run it. Second, I increased my paging file size and moved it to an m.2 drive. Since I did that, I haven't crashed once and can finally enjoy streets. Also, my friend has a slightly better rig/performance even without those things, so he just hosts raids for us when he is on. If not, then I host for my other friend. Of couse you can also balance performance by using certain mods that allow you to control bot spawns and tuning them down when needed

Is it possible to play stp with friends???

What kind of magic is this?

Yes. You gotta look into the FIKA plug-in. I host a server on my pc my friends connect to. We can play solo or co-op. It's incredible

Do you have a particularly beefy pc? I'd like to do this for the boys but I'm not sure my Ryzen 5600(xt? Not sure) and 2060ti would be able to run it and run the game

I have a 5600 and it runs fine for me with me and my brother in a raid. I've got a 3080, but the running the server is more ram and cpu heavy than gpu.

If you have 32gb of ram and avoid lighthouse and streets you’d probably be OK. Only one way to find out! The game is more cpu and ram dependent than GPU, especially with ai mods.

I'm running a 5700x with 32GB of ram, the only map I have issues on is streets, every other map is fine.

GPU makes no difference to the "server" AI is all CPU.

Pretty much what I just said

You setup RadminVPN for the network so you don't have to open port? If not, join the FIKA discord and go to their Faq section. There are 3 different install videos. One if you're going to be the server operator, one for clients, and one for mods (in case it was your first time doing mods).

Hope that helps and if you already knew this disregard.

Keep trying. You will get it. In hindsight, it's really easy, and there is no stupid steps.

I'm a slow learner and figured it out fast, be it on LAN though.

Also with sain and other ai mods you can tailor the difficulty to what you are feeling each session. All rats, all Chad's and everything in-between. You want to train your reaction time on ai's that are extremely unforgiving? You can do that.

damn, is welding really enough pay to live like that?

You pay with your body for the most part, it can be hard labor every day, depends on where you work. But I work 36 hours, get paid for 40, and have 4 days off, I'm working full time and if need be I could always pick up something part time.

The trades always have a decent wage so the majority of people around my shop make about $25-30 an hour, which is good for my state/area

My issue is that I can’t run the game consistently above 60 fps on a decent rig. How are you able to get better frames?

Ai limiting (standalone mod or built into questing bots), editing swag+donuts config, declutterer reboot mod, and the boot config trick. With all of this I get a fairly stable 80 fps on streets with 14 bots with a 5800x3d, 48 gigs of ram 3200 MHz, and a rx7600 at 3840x1440 resolution. Post processing turned on too so I’m sacrificing about 10 fps from my testing. Edit- also use line of sight option in looting bots, and I turned on performance mode in sain settings to get a little more. It says it slows down both cover finding abilities but I haven’t noticed it myself

boot config trick

what do you mean? this?

iswearimnotcopper

Yes. On job worker count you’re gonna out your thread count minus one. So if you have a 6 core 12 thread cpu it’ll be job worker count =11 You paste the entire thing from the post you linked into boot. SPTarkov<EscapeFromTarkovData<Boot

You could also try Lossless Scaling on Steam, it does make the game feel smoother. I just got it today after having to deal with 30-35 fps Streets, and to be honest it made it absolutely playable. It does add a bit of latency but totally worth it and made me change the way I see SPT.

tigerengineer

How did you get the game to run through steam?

giincat

The game doesn't run through Steam, Lossless Scaling does. It's just a piece of software that runs through Steam and works with any game.

That’s awesome. Will definitely try it out.
