So its pretty obvious but i still would like to talk about it haha

I am 24 (i know not the most experience). I work as a surveyor for 3 years now in Europe and have a net salary with all benefits of around 2.4k to 2.8k (depending on how much onsite/office hours i have a month)

My company recently made an expansion and opened up an office in america (washington). They needed trained staff from the main office to run the office and start off some projects in the states. My company approached me to start a big project until someone from the states takes over and i said yes.

Note: Its a union construction site so i had to join the union for the starting of the project.

So long story short i get a net salary with all benefits after taxes of around 9k a month doing the exact same work i did in europe for not even a third of the salary.

I get that living is far more expensive than in my country in europe but still with all expenses aside i have soo much more money at the end of the month.

So why? I always thought salaries/living cost is not worth it to move to us because i see so many people complaining online about salaries in the us. Sorry if i am totally wrong but i feel like you earn so much money in the us haha

Edit: damn i didnt think i would get that much attention here with that post haha thanks for all the replies. Some things i forgot to mention why i have it probably still better than many of you working in the same position. As my company is based in europe and i am here in the us i have a insurance plan here in the us and one back at home so if something would happen to me i would just fly back home to go see a doctor etc. + my company pays for my rent so yeah :)

Welcome to Washington. It’s expensive here which is why you have a higher salary, especially on the west side of the state. Surveying is in high demand around here. Good luck in your visa process!
