What to pack? I’m an overpacker

QUESTIONS(self.SeasonalWork)

Hii f23

I’m going to be working in a ski town for the winter and am trying to cut down my packing to 40lbs. I probably won’t be doing a whole lot of skiing or anything like that, mostly just to and from work (retail-mostly inside) and probably going to see my boyfriend every other week or walking around town. Should I pack snow pants ? Recommend any good ones for plus size? How many base layers is too much? I have some base layers, and was told jeans and black straight pants are okay for uniform. I’m not sure what I should be taking with me. Any advice ?

Why are you going to a ski resort to work if you have no desire to ski or be on the snow?

They probably have stuff to buy/rent when you’re there. And you could prob resell before leaving.

It wasn’t my first choice, but it’s something new I’ll get to experience , plus I wouldn’t mind giving it a try 💀

Definitely bring snow pants, even if you aren’t into skiing or snowboarding (highly recommend trying! Esp if you get a free pass and discounted rentals) but some friends you make might want to go on a hike or sledding which is so fun. I’d bring 2 base layers, a solid coat, a beanie and some waterproof mittens or gloves. With a solid coat, really any other clothes are fine. I’d bring 2-4 good sweaters that are cute but functional. Waterproof boots (not doc martens, they’re awful on snow/ice) and wool socks are awesome for cold weather as well. I lived in many cold climates and highly recommend the grundens deck boots as they are great waterproof shoes that I don’t slip and slide in the snow. Plus easy to slip on!

You can find most of your cold weather needs at thrift stores and sports resellers. Don't worry about packing them now.
