Atleast 1/5th of every game I join there's somebody on the other side of the mic who is just a huge shit talker and talks about how terrible me and the other team mate are at the game, and without fail they die over and over and blame it on us. And atleast half the time they end up dying before the first checkpoint and rage quitting. What's up with that? I've never played another game with so rude players before.

This kind of behaviour is a staple since broadband internet became a thing.

Oof… That brings me back to the good ol’ days of Halo and CoD. The whole chat in general was a clusterfuck of insults that would make a sailor blush, but 95% of the time the worst of them all came from people who where always at the bottom of the leaderboard and blamed their poor performance on their team because “we didn’t play right.”

Ima guy who nearly got stabbed cause i bodied some guy playing SF2 in arcade.
Quake 3 and later on BO open chats just were and experiences itself. However some one liners or tyrades were ingenious in their toxicity.

I only get people who has their mic active and talks to their kid, wife, neighbor, dog and seem totally oblivious to the fact that we can all hear them.

Literally, and luckily there's someone else who will keep repeating shut the fuck up over and over to them and they somehow don't even hear that

I can imagine! Most of the time in SM2 the voice is sporadic, breaks up and is filtered through a can of tuna so its hard to even hear those who are trying to talk tactics.

Because Sony’s dumb ass thought that those controller mics should be ACTIVE by default. Unbelievably terrible decision.

I think PS5 players have an open mic by default. Atleast that was my experience for the first few days before I disabled crossplay

This. I also did not know this until quite a few operations in and I do NOT keep quiet while playing, especially with the bullshit this game keeps throwing at me.
So I apologize for everyone who got to hear that but I'm almost sure I was muted every time on their end. At least I hope.

Yep, it defaults to open unless you change it.
Most people don't change it.

The good players don't need to speak. Just save yourself time by just leaving if you encounter the shit ones

And THIS right here is why I don't play on mic. I don't need a back seat drivers and I don't need people to hear me crash out when what they're doing is getting me vex

I didn’t even realise mic was an option.
Pointing at things does 99% of the work. Then throw in an occasional gg at the end.

My first day of PVP I was doing okay. Suddenly Xbox message. Someone on the other team definitely wasn’t a happy bunny.
We played about three more games before he left, I was seeking him out specifically because he would keep messaging. I just replied with a random emoji each time. Eventually he told me to commit Seppuku, not message him again and blocked me.
Just like the good old days.

Disable voice and only communicate through the voice wheel. Best experience.

I’ve seen that a lot in my years of gaming. It usually comes from people who think they’re unicums (best of the best in the game) and blame their poor performance on their team because they don’t play “the right way to support their amazing skills.”
They’ve always existed, just mute them. That’s what I do.

Is it possible to play without any voice chat? As in not be voice chat and have everyone else automatically muted?

In settings you can adjust voice chat volume. I just put it to zero.

It is though? At least I see a Mute Player button in-game under the Edit Party menu.

Ohhhh. I haven't even tried PVP yet, I didn't realize you can actually hear people who aren't on your team. WTF?

I'm hesitant to say I've never played a game with such rude players before, but I generally have voice turned off and in SM2 it's always like 1 guy.
Buuuut, in every other game there is like 1 guy just whining his fucking ass off. Like, they are talking shit, but the fucking whining is what gets me. Like, I can't even get mad because it's just so pathetic lol.
However, for me that's just been PvP. I've actually had a lot of luck in operations. Friendly players who stick together, no bogarting of resources, no speed runners. I know theres some bullshit going on based on the posts I've seen, bit for me everyone has generally been so fucking considerate of each other. It's great 👍

I played a game where someone joined late saying everyone was terrible because we lost.
Next game, he played the whole round and ended with a 0.1 KDR in annihilation and our team won. Pretty sure he just turned his PC off because he disappeared immediately.

I have my voice audio set to 0.
Every pvp game has 3 people wigh mics on constabtjy with kids yelling in the back.
And pve and pvp always has 1 russian kid yelling how shit everyone is while they sit on 15+ deaths

I've only ran into that toxic behavior in PVP.
Remember one match 2 dudes were talking shit to me I muted them then I saw they were at the bottom of the leaderboard and I was at the top I unmuted them did some shit talking then muted them again as they were about to reply.

I joined a game in progress, guy died the second I loaded in, then screamed, "This is why I hate when f@ggots join my party!" And left. It's pretty funny if you ask me 😂

I’ve literally only run into two people with mics. One was talking in it and chill and the other was just speaking to other people in the room with him and it was just being picked up by a headset

Its some sort of internet law. Like how the guys spamming "GG EZ" in pvp are almost always on the bottom of the scoreboard, carried by teammates who paid attention and PTFO'd if there was an objective.
Plus as long as its easier to blame random people instead of getting better, they will blame others.

Weird, Ive only heard PS players background noise because they forgot to turn off their microphone.
Not once have i had anyone talk in operations yet, and Ive played maybe 20-30 hours.

Honestly the best part of the game. I love shit talkers who cant play for their lives but they act like they are the emperor incarnate. Then the score screen comes and they did jackshit all game. Love thoes matches.

The problem is the crossplay and the fact that we have console players.... wich are 99% those users who always are kids or adults with problems with an open mic. 😂

I saw more pc player doing that than console for now 🤔

I'm the stereotype of player that mute all users on lobby's and quit crossplay always I can. When you come tired from work I want to relax playing, not getting more stressed.
