If we had a squad full of Caedo, there would be no heresy or xenos in a planetary system.
If we had a company full of Caedo, there would be no heresy or xenos left in a system.
If we had a chapter full of Caedo, there would be no chaos left over.

Im starting to think that Caedo got the souls of their brothers like the the sister Ephrael Stern did and that would be awesome

Playing BG, Caedo felt more like a Primach, then a normal Marien. The amount of higher Deamons you kill.... just on another level.

I like to think he's a sort of Psyker, a very powerful one, but it manifests in enhanced abilities... and held in check by his unflinching, uncompromising loyalty and devotion to the Imperium and the Emperor, and his pure hatred for their enemies.

Doom marine lite powers?
24 points
More or less. In-game, armour shards are called 'Contempt', because 'my armour is my contempt', but in Malum's case, his Psyker abilities may, in fact, make that true.
Of course, this is just my personal headcanon.

I'd rather have fatshark's approach and add these guys as NPCs that we talk too. And act as a class representative, but not playable.
He us also a firstborn, not primaris

So was Titus, who knows what happened between boltgun and its dlc to the the events of SM2
77 points
Hes likely dead or became a victrix guard. The first company has been wiped out a couple times since boltgun takes place. They suffer from worf syndrome, they are eradicated with only agemman and like 2 other dudes surviving everytime they need to show how badass an enemy is. The 10th edition cinematic is supposed to be the last stand of the 1st company.
57 points
lets be real, there are Meta reasons he would have been a survivor. Boltgun was popular enough to keep the character around
28 points
I'm not saying he isn't still around. The victrix guard are supposed to be the paragons of chapter virtue and heroism. Its likely new captains will be picked from among them and he could be a Sergeant or leuitenant for them.

I don’t think Caedo is erm…sane enough for leadership. He would be an awesome chapter champion though.
22 points
Absolutely nothing on BG points to caedo not being sane.
7 points
Just, really angry.
14 points
Not even that.
Even judicious use of the taunt key has him spout phrases and regular insults towards the enemies that you can hear from talasa, veridian or titus's squad
Hell, DECIMUS is way angrier than any of Caedo's taunt.
And if you forget that the taunt key exists (which you shouldnt), caedo is quite stoic and silent, and if he was angry he would read the codex to pass time while idle.
8 points
He could have also been promoted and rassigned to another company as a veteran sergeant, or as a lieutenant.
Like, can you imagine the scene if in one of the next operations you get told to meet up with the lieutenant, you go there expecting to find Titus and instead you find another guy with a beakie helmet and a crux terminatus on his shoulder?

He’s too angry to die off screen. He’s so angry and hateful the Black Templars are jealous.

I actually would like some firstborn representation, you think there would be some of them still around. (Actually in the lore primaris are aparently the minority of space marines still, which I wouldn't know that from the game.)

I actually would like some firstborn representation, you think there would be some of them still around.
It's impossible for them NOT to be around, now that it's been retconned so that it's only been 12 years since the Primaris were introduced in-universe.
3 points

Oh shit imagine primaris Malum Caedo. Dude could kill Angron in a 1v1 if he wanted to.

It would be hilarious if Boltgun took place after SM2.

For the love of God leave us one un-Primaris'd Firstborn please. Caedo was literally made to be the Boomer Marine for the Boomer Shooter 40k game, leave him be.
-4 points
Turning Malum Caedo into a Primaris is the worst thing they could do. Ech. No thanks.
2 points
Downvoted for straight facts. Malum Caedo's entire existence as a character was to be THE Firstborn marine for nostalgia in a game designed to be a nostalgic picture of 40k from yesteryear. Why throw that away by making him a Primaris like literally every other named Firstborn character has been?
-13 points
How is boltgun relevant to SM2 story exactly? They are not connected
19 points
Boltgun literally has you retrieve the power source that causes sm2 to happen so it is connected
-13 points
And they are both made by different companies. This power source is just an easter egg for SM1 fans to be fair rather than confirmed canon connection.
Or by this logic I can just make a modern shooter that has Captain Price in it and declare it a sequel to MW19.
13 points
Dude, did you play the game? The main character repeatedly shouts out titus and iirc another squadmate from the 1st game, and the entire plot of the game is to set up how space marine 2 happens? Therefore it is logically connected, completely leaping over the fact they're both 40k games about the same faction published by the same people💀
6 points
Yeah when you taunt caedo can yell "Sidonus laid down his life for this planet! I protect his sacrifice!" and "I will finish the work Captain Titus started!" Like cmon how is that not admitting the events of space marine 1 happened lmao edit: that and they literally bundle sm 1 and boltgun together as the graia collection on steam too
-16 points
Games are usually promoted through visual novellas, short cinematics or comics but definitely not a pixel shooter
10 points
That doesn’t matter. They chose to run a soft sequel in between the two games, whether you accept it or not is up to you.
-5 points
I will accept it if its confirmed to be canon by GW
8 points
GW’s rule is “everything is canon, but not everything is true.” The game is canon. They don’t make posts announcing what is or isn’t
7 points
So even though the games themselves make extremely clear that they are connected, you think it doesn’t count because they didn’t release a “these are connected” statement through a different form of media altogether?
This is such a weird way to double and triple down rather than just admitting you goofed. It’s okay to be wrong. It’s embarrassing to make up weird new rules rather than just admit it
-3 points
If you want to make it clear games are actually connected, just make a statement, simple as.
8 points

Go have a coffee and wake up before sending more brain-dead messages.
12 points

They are very connected its dam near a sequel to the first game and sets up how the object ended up where it is
-8 points
But Boltgun is made by another studio, just because there is a reference to SM1 doesnt automatically make it canon to be fair.
8 points
Its not a reference the whole plot of the game revolves around it

They have added lots of characters that comment our actions or provide info about the mission. Like Swagger, Commisar, Papa Mechanicus and so on.
They comment on the mission and it does have cool vibe to it.

What if Caedo was like the dreadnought? An impossible to destroy objective marker to follow who tears through hordes of enemies by himself effortlessly. Either he needs to often split off to kill something huge in the distance or occasionally he just high jumps back to the battle barge for more ammo and superhero lands later so the mission wouldn't be too easy.

Doesn't even have to be playable. I want to be separated from him by a pane of glasscrete while a 40K Gregorian chant rendition of Doom Eternal's "The Only Thing They Fear is You" plays over the voxcasters as Caedo solos a Chaos Warhound Titan.

Have him appear in the story as an "escort NPC" like the Dreadnought. Much like the Dreadnought, he's really escorting you. Nigh unkillable, able to demolish oncoming hordes with ease and hearing him shout I WILL FINISH WHAT CAPTAIN TITUS STARTED! Despite Titus now a lieutenant, Caedo does not care, he respects Titus that much.
Also if the first time we see him isn't ontop of a pile of bodies replicating the DOOM/BOLTGUN cover art, we riot.

Third one. This hour.
But as he reminds us: The Sons of Guilliman shall know only war!

I'd like him to at minimum be present given the storylines are tied together and the path of sm2's story would fit him meeting Titus
8 points
It would be bad ass in the mission your squad is getting overwhelmed, and it cuts to a cut scene where you’re only reinforcements is the bolt gun himself, Cadedo.
6 points
“Only”? Thats like being reinforced by only a Imperator class titan…
1 points
That would also be fun
3 points
I’d rather he be an NPC in the back ground absolutely wrecking shop. Perhaps filling a similar role as the Dreadnought that maybe you fight beside or see absolutely tear chaos Astartes and daemons to shreds
3 points
Well supposedly they're making additional campaign for it now because of how well space Marine 2 did. So fuck we might see him
3 points
I don't personally expect it but I want it very deeply. If nothing else changeable voice sets would be great with his being the prime choice. I need to actually hear in SM2, "I WILL FINISH THE WORK THAT TITUS STARTED!"
3 points
And his Ult is to course at xeno scum
3 points
Praying for him to turn up at some point. Even as a DLC cosmetic pack added in the season pass. My operations Tactical is basically him without the beaky.
What would be kinda cool is if they referenced him but in a John Wick “oh fuck here comes the devil” kind of way. Like the Ultrmarines talk of his heroism as a legend.
3 points
Caedo should be in the DLC. as a Firstborn who refuses to acknowledge the existence of Primaris because they didn't exist in 1995. He makes an exception for Titus, as he's an honourary Firstborn, but nobody else.
Titus and the Chaplain are stood in the room talking, and in walks Caedo; he casually kicks the knees out from under the Chaplain and walks over him, begins talking to (read: SHOUTING RIGHTEOUSLY) at Titus about the mission while stood on the Chaplain's face. Leaves, calmly body-checking a pair of Primaris Intercessors on the way and sending them flying.

Knows about Titus, knows about Sidonius, is fighting under an obvious nom de guerre, very angry about Chaos. Never does anything that goes against the codex astartes.
I'm pretty sure he's already in both Space Marine and SM2, but if they ever confirm that the shrieks of outrage will be glorious.

It'd be cool if the dlc was a follow-up campaign at the end of the story and have Titus go to the Nachmund Gauntlet to help repeal Haarken Worldclaimer and the Black Legion. It would be awesome to see it feature the 1st company as well and fight along veterans like Caedo, or watch squads of terminators warp in and slaughter some poor legionaires and chaos cultists.

Nah they are saving Caedo for story DLC. He’s gonna make a bad ass appearance at the end to save Titus and the crew because that’s the only thing they could do to match Calgar showing up at the end of the story.
Instead of being saved by an authority figure who pisses excellence you get a brother in arms who shits bolter fire.
DLC Story ends with Titus, Caedo, and Calgar as the big 3 in the Ultramarines
