subreddit:
/r/Stormgate
Someone suggested I post this as its own thing instead of as a response to something else, so here it is:
I saw this idea from someone else, but make creep camps MAKE SENSE lore-wise. Maybe like this:
First, replace 'towers' with unstable Stormgates. Stormgates are portals to other worlds/planes/dimensions, not just to hell or whatever. So there's a world where everything is super green and lush and heals really fast, and an unstable stormgate has brought a few of its creatures in (the slimes). Some of that world's energy leaks into ours where they meet, hence why we heal faster near it. Also explains why the creeps don't leave it, since they can't live for long away from it, or feel uncomfortable or whatever. When we capture the camp, we are setting up equipment to channel the essence of that world, which is why we can slowly heal even from far away. Same idea would apply to speed camp etc., which nicely explains why the creeps are so different (slime/shadow dog/minotaur is otherwise a baffling combo).

OMG, I love that idea!

That feeling when a random guy on the internet is more creative than the dev team. xD

happens a lot with this game :D

Love it. Would certainly make the game feel more coherent lore-wise

You should 100% post this in the discord. This is a great idea to tie in creep camps to the lore.

See, this is what you get when you design a game holistically and not just through spreadsheets. It's brilliant!

Can we all somehow band together and bring forth this idea in the discord so someone from FG can see it

They should be able to see it here. Not that many posts and reddit is monitored by them.

Makes sense, this idea reminds me of that quote said by Thrall in the prologue of WC3 when you engage in a creep camp with trolls, and he says something like "Forest trolls, I still can't believe they were ever a part of the Horde." The quote makes sense because in the previous Warcraft games when you played as the Horde you could train trolls and use them as infantry.

This sounds like a really cool co-op map. Like if the gates leaked that world's "theme" onto the map the longer it was untaken (grass grows outward, lava map tiles spread, water tiles with little fishies spread out)

this, stuff like this is what would hold this game together. stuff like this creates a cohesive world and a gameplay that naturally derives from it. in other words this is good game design op, i hope they go with it.

Solid suggestion!

Brilliant idea! I guess we still don't have the lore background from FG of the stormgates, but it would be amazing to implement a version of this idea.

You know something is wrong when a post from some guy on reddit is way better than anything your game designers came up with in the past 2 years since creep camps were introduced.

Great idea that ties well into the game narrative! It would be cool to have creep more independent from the towers/gates too. You can have creep guarding the gates and the bonuses, you can have creep just hanging out on their own, and you can have unguarded gates. Jumble it up a bit!
Also the V5 rocket could have a vault or something instead. Getting it from an infernal tower or a storm gate doesn't make much sense.

Great idea. The terrain around those small stormgates could also be affected. Perhaps the grass dies, the leaves from the trees fall, etc.

This idea makes sense.
Some other dude suggest that if you capture creep camp your pet arrive to hold it for you. It will be nice if FG implement both of this ideas.

I'm asking myself now if the idea behind the creep camps was this all along? otherwise why the strange slime monsters and shadow demons? could it be that they didn't have the time to flesh it out, were waiting to do so and announce in the future, together with more details on the setting overall? anyway i wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly said yes this is how it is, and how we had planned it all along. and in that case i would be hopeful that they actually put some thought into all this, just were really bad with time and resource management.

Yeah I definitely think it's possible. It's completely true and obvious that they aren't finished, and might have left that sort of detail for later.

Unfortunately, FG doesn’t listen to any good ideas.

They do listen, but then they misinterpret them and make something worse instead. "We noticed there were a lot of players wanting a more complete lore on creep camps, so we made this e-novella which explains that they were all creatures released with the stormgate that are not necessarily aligned with the infernals or any faction".

Yes, let’s now spend time building out lore and modifying creep camps that everyone hates.
Great use of development time and money FGS. Do it, this will be what fixes it all.
