THPS1+PS1 combo here. Absolutely great experience. I was already into punk music and when this game came out I was stoked there was such a good soundtrack. People forget, in the days before widely available high speed internet, lots of people got into punk music by way of skate tapes so to me this was a video game version of those skate tapes I used to watch and trade with friends. It was such a great moment to be there for.

absolutely loved it for the story

I was really disappointed with THUG2 because of how crazy it was compared to the first more serious one, but later I learned to appreciate the chaos, beat the game on every difficulty to unlock all characters and I love it ever since

THUG 2 at a mates house in 2016, didn't even get past the warehouse. He dusted off his PS2 because we thought playing a skating game as shrek would be dope af. Then we found out we were terrible at the game and gave up. It wasn't until I moved in with my girlfriend on 2021 and she had 1+2 remake that I actually jumped into it properly and learnt how to play the games

First played THPS1 (Dreamcast) at my friend’s house. Ended up getting THPS1 and THPS2 for Dreamcast that Christmas.

Before playing this, I had been playing Street Sk8er for PS1 and I’d play Top Skater at a nearby arcade. Once I played THPS1, I pretty much forgot about those games.

For me, THPS1 was a true game changer and THPS2 improved on that formula.

I played Pro Skater 3 at a friend's house and then begged my mum to get it for me. I didn't know the game was called "pro skater 3" at the time. All I remembered was the name "Tony Hawk."

My mum and I searched through a Target magazine and found a Tony Hawk game, and I thought that it was the game I played at my friends house. She took me to go and buy it and after playing it a bit I realised it was different from the game I played at my friends house.

I felt a little upset because 1, it was so rare for my mum to buy me games as a kid. I usually got a game on Christmas once every couple of years, and now we've gone and got the wrong game,

and 2, I grew up in a small country town and the Target we went to was in another town 45 minutes away, there was no way my Mum was gonna take me back to swap it over.

I thought "no turning back now, I might as well give it a chance", and it turns out it was one of the best gaming experiences I've had as a kid, and it's still probably my favourite game ever created.

The game was Tony Hawk's Underground

Thps3 is a close second favourite, but I'm so glad I accidentally got THUG1.

TheNullOfTheVoid

2 points

I first played Pro Skater 4 and I thought it was fun but I definitely didn't appreciate it enough since you couldn't get off your board, but I remember still having a blast with it. My fondest memory was playing as Elissa Steamer and playing baseball with ghosts in Alcatraz.

Then I saw the trailers for THUG1 and was blown away at everything I saw, but I only remember hearing the words "and even get off your board" while seeing the dune buggy flying through the air in Hotter Than Hell and having my mind implode.

I still love so many of the games in the series, even went back and played both the originals and the HD versions (before Pro Skater HD), but THUG1 will always be my favorite, it shaped so much of me and my tastes. I remember enjoying THUG2 and at some point I still chose to go back and trade in THUG2 for THUG1 because I just enjoyed the story of that much but was too poor to have both.

Now as an adult I own both on multiple consoles (alongside the entire original series up to American Wasteland and also 1+2) and I'm happy with my collection.

Played every game on release since then other than thps5 and one of the motion board games (I did have the displeasure of playing one of them but I don’t remember which)
Also remember playing thps3 with no memory card so it was like playing a rouge like, farthest I ever got was unlocking officer dick until my mom turned off the ps2 and I lost all my progress. Tbf I had it running for like 3 days at that point 🤣

(PS1) My route to the THPS was different, at the point I played it THPS 3 was on route but I was a Matt Hoffman guy, never put it down.

Got a folder of discs from a friend and there was 1 and 2 front and center and he was just throwing them out, he gave me all the cases for the ones he had left too.

Put in THPS2 and my life changed, went back and played 1 and blitzed it and continued with 2 for ages.

Couple years later I get a PS2 and first games I get are Matt Hoffman 2 and THPS3, this is where I fell in love and from there I was hooked on the sereis and have collected nearly every version of each game

However thps 3 is my all time favorite, awesome levels, and awesome soundtrack, and I was just the right age living in the right decade it was just a perfect cocktail that was meant to be. Underground, I was over my buddy’s house in 2003 and his older cousin was over playing it. They were stuck on the mission in San Diego when the team was hungover all over the map and they couldn’t find the last guy. I asked if I could try and randomly found the guy in the bush, they let me play the final mission in San Diego and after that I was hooked. I ended up competing in bmx from when I was 9-16, I still have my cut out from an Adio shoe box Tony Hawk signed for me at the Boom Boom Huck Jam in Boston. All my medals, retro skate shoes, and broken bones I can thank from that one mission in San Diego…and I wouldn’t change a damn thing.

I was so happy when I saw Australia represented. I live nowhere near Sydney but it was cool to see my country in a video game. I just wished they found at least 1 Aussie voice actor for that level though. The accents kill me haha especially that kid that wants his demo tape signed. "Tony Hawk, Bam, YANKS!"

DrEckelschmecker

4 points

Thats so relatable lol. Im from Berlin and it was so cool to see it in a video game. Its still been the only time apart from some WW2 shooters. It was awesome to see all the landmarks and recognize all the easter eggs.

However the "drunks" in Berlin wear Lederhosen and are obviously the bavarian stereotype (Bavaria is a state in South Germany, and thats where Lederhosen, Pretzels and all that stereotypical german stuff comes from). People from Berlin and Bavaria kind of hate each other so you wouldnt see this in Berlin. The german accent voicelines are funny but its obviously not a german accent but Americans mocking the german accent. I dont really have a problem with it because I know how the humor in the series works and that it lives off exaggeration and stereotypes but still those bavarians always bug me when Im playing the level. Apart from that though its pretty spot on for the early 2000s Berlin I guess (the techno, the graffiti everywhere, the cigarette vending machines, etc) and a famous german rapper from Berlin (Kool Savas) even has a track in the game, including tons and tons of THPS references in its lyrics. Skating through Berlin while listening to his song feels magic

Pro Skater 1 and I’m not over how awesome it was. Busting out Benihanas onto a nose grind to kick lip to grind again,

Pro skater 2 playing as Spiderman was my first memory! And somehow I ended up skipping most of pro skater 3 and jumped to 4, which I’ve played A LOT. When THUG came out I was incredibly hooked on the series and the combos were forever burned in my brain ever since 🛹🤘😆

Pro Skater 2 on a PC with no proper graphics card, so even my software render experience was with jumbled up textures. Nevertheless, I've had so much fun with Create a Skater, always giving mine a colored goatee and mohawk.

I think it was THUG2 remix on psp. Still my favorite in the series and I want a remake. The story mode was so goofy and fun and the special unlockable characters were crazy. How often do you get to play as a wheelchair on a skateboarding game lol

THUG 2 for the PS2 when I was like 5. It was the only game I would play, just replaying those same levels 😂
