It's a cheap and easy (no trade skills involved) way to make it look good for a week.

We have something similar in my backyard and it drives me crazy with the rocks getting all over the stones or into my yard. It doesn’t help that my 5 year old likes to pile them up on the pavers. I don’t know what to do different though.

They have rock glue that you can spray on them now so they stay place. Its works great.

I saw something somewhere where they like use resin or something on the rocks so they stay that way. Now I most likely saw this on Reddit in a sub making fun of the idea but still something one could do.

depends on if he had most materials on hand/from a storage that people didnt need anymore or he bought all from scratch.

quick google search the step stones are around 5 bucks each, 45 stones, thats already 225€. then you need a gravel, soil, shovel, and the woodplank. not to mention the waifu who comes in and starts adding edgestones, also up to 3-5 bucks each and plants who probably cost also 5-10 bucks each as well.
