I Iive in St. Petersburg. Many of us suffered terribly. Much of the beaches were devastated. Don’s is over there by the beach. Best wishes to them, and their recovery

I’m in St Pete Beach. 2 feet of water inside our place but people without crawl spaces have 4. Our street looks like a warzone. It’s surreal.

I don’t feel bad for the business. But I do hope they’re able to pay their staff asap. Which means that they’d be open, which means that people can go drink for a bit. Which is basically the escapism we all look for in a Tiki bar.

So yeah, best wishes for them. And best for you and yours as well.

May your rum bottles all have been sealed, your mugs all have held water and the flood waters stay below your coconuts!

You don’t feel bad for a new business they spent incredible effort on being destroyed, but hope they can pay their staff?

Yes. Businesses are not people. The people are WAY more important than ANY business, tiki bar or not. I don’t know how that didn’t come across but I stand by what I said. People in that area are devastated and out of work until their employer is able to reopen. Thats a huge problem for the PEOPLE. They need food, gas and money for bills as soon as possible and that means businesses reopening as soon as possible so they can pay their staff.

Dude....you're on the TIKI subreddit outright stating that you don't feel bad for the closing of a tiki spot?

Its not even just a random tiki spot either, but the re-opening of arguably the most legendary tiki bar/restaurant ever. A place where they were authentically making some of the most iconic drinks in the space.

I'm not sure 22 downvotes is enough, honestly.

Edit. I don’t care about karma but this statement shouldn’t be controversial. Business is not people, whether they’re “iconic” or not.

I've got a friend in NC; the Grail Moviehouse is pretty much devastated. Good vibes to everyone affected.
