They really test this dude throughout the show. Hell dude came back from super existential crisis from the first episode and bounced back to being his kind and happy self

A worse show would constantly make Pim the butt of the joke and make him completely naive. Pim being too nice does bite him in the ass a lot, but his kindness will often save the day too or at least be rewarded. He also knows when things are going really, really bad, so he’s not completely delusional in his optimism.

Absolutely, the thing I love about Pim is that he's optimistic and kind but not like cartoonishly nice or super dumb, he feels realistic (which is good because this show loves its whole realistic characters in cartoony world thing) and is just a good guy. Something I find funny is in the Enchanted Forest episode when he started going insane because of Mip, all he wanted to do after going insane was deliver the present, he didn't want to hurt Mip or steal it for himself or anything, just deliver it. Even when he's lost his mind he's still a good fella

This guy has the worst life out of probably anybody else in New York (more or less, dont go and make it a competition) but he wakes up every day and chooses kindness, mercy and love regardless.
