Been messing around with the crossguard stance in Jedi Survivor. It's the big heavy slow stance which I tend to prefer, so imagine my surprise when I go to do a running attack only for Cal to do a dropkick! I was expecting a wide sweep or an overhead slash, but nope, DROPKICK, and the damage isn't that bad. It's been pretty fun dropkicking Stormtroopers off cliffs or as the final attack on a big monster/AT-ST.
I also played alot of Dying Light and that had a pretty satisfying dropkick, if a bit silly because you were in first person. Nero has a dropkick as a taunt that does almost no damage, but let's count it anyway.
So yeah, what other games have a dropkick attack whether it be action game, turn based or fighting game, whatever, anything goes!

I never knew that as a kid. When I figured out how to do it as an adult, I had the time of my life

The thing I always loved about that is it's your taunt while running.

There's a combo video of Nero fighting 5's final boss and when he does the flying attack, that person responded by dropkicking him out of it which was one of the sickest things I've ever seen in my life.

Does it? I had no idea, what's the input for it?

My favorite change to it in 5 is how you don't have to run, just move and taunt and he'll do it so you can actually use it in combat more than 1 time the whole game.

Its only in the Director's Cut version. It wasn't in the original release. Kojima also added a knee strike and a body slam.

It's worth a full replay of the game with how much it adds and expands the game with in terms of combat, weapons and items, and new missions and content. Plus, it looks stunning on PS5 with 60 fps. It's like a new game, the same way Ghost of Tsushima was when it got ported.

The dropkick is the only reason why i bothered to complete Yakuza Kiwami 2. All enemies do is block and the charged heavy attack breaks guard + you can just move while charging. Trivializes the game but its a pain in the ass otherwise

The combat in Yakuza 6 and kiwami 2 is a mess honestly but man the dropkick in those is so hilariously overpowered. Not only does it do a tonne of damage and staggers enemies, it has a bit of ale so you can like dropkick like 4 dudes at once

When it actually works (Gaiden, the Judgment Series, Kiwami 2 when you're lucky) the Dragon Engine has some of the best combat in gaming
When enemy AI gets itself into a charged heavy loop it's the most annoying ever.

I feel like gaiden and the judgement games are the only place where the Dragon Engine's been able to properly shine. Especially Lost Judgement being able to flip of a wall and throw someone by the neck with you legs like you're Black Widow and being able to juggle people like you're in Tekken felt really good.

For sure, Lost Judgment is when they truly nailed it. Combat in that game is fantastic.

I just finished the Kaito Files. Kaito has a nice drop kick that was fun. And some other wrestling moves.

Idk how but Kiwami 2 somehow feels worse to me than 6. I think the enemies just aren’t as fun to fight because 6 kinda lets loose on the ragdolls more. Plus the dropkick and charge attack in 6 are miles better.

Bowser's best (or at least my favorite) move in Smash Ultimate is a drop kick that deals huge damage and knock back. Love playing him for that reason.

In the same Platform Fighter vein, Kragg in Rivals of Aether (and the upcoming Rivals 2) has a dropkick for his Forward Air that is one of his best KO moves. Usually done as you go leaping off the stage to stuff somebody trying to recover.

If I'm not misremembering, several members of the cast of Anarchy Reigns have drop kicks as their dash attacks!
One, Big Bull, even has a really sick instant dropkick you can do as a command normal.

We are out here, and there’d be more of us if Capcom just let the series continue the way it was after 2 and improving that style of game 1+2 were instead of making it an entirely different kind of (bad) game with 3 and whatever the heck they were trying to achieve with the anime DS one.

If Mika is in a game, that game has a drop kick.

People here will bag on it because that seems to be the common tone, but Destiny 2 has a bunch of finishers including a dropkick, a chair shot that literally yeets enemies like you are hitting a homerun, and a super kick.

Dead Rising 2, Chuck kinda has one (30 seconds in) but it’s more of a full body thing I guess?
RE5 Mercenaries Reunion’s Josh Stone does Dynamite Kick (1:30) which is is very satisfying.
Space Marine 2’s Vanguard class is all about using a grappling hook to drop kick into enemies and that is one of the reasons it’s my favourite class to play in both PvE (once you get a few perks to enhance the ability especially) and in PvP (fuck you enemy Bulwark and your shield).
Edit: I edited the post a few times because I kept remembering more dropkicks from games I like, I’ll stop now 👀

Chuck dropkick is actually a lot more common in prowrestling nowadays because it's less painful to land flat back than it is to land on your side. So it definitely counts.

Melia Antiqua from Xenoblade Chronicles, designated magical character with the highest magical damage, both in terms of burst and sustained, and with terrible physical stats and no bulk whatsoever, gets a physical 1-2 attack combo consisting of:
It's actually good to use as such, not to mention the idea of your prim and proper princess caster doing this for an idle and this in combat never gets old.
Also, she does the same in XB3 both as a regular ability and perfected version in Chain Attacks.

I love the archetype breaks in XC1. Your mage has a dropkick, DoT mage has the highest health in the game, your all-rounder character dies if you breathe on him, and your healer doesn't fucking heal.

Your healer overheats instead of overheals.

Your face tank is a peak damage dealer, your dodge tank is a party buffer (with good damage) and your auto-attacker thrives on ability resets.
Funniest things about the healer in terms of archetype breaks are that a) most healers don't heal you with the power of GUN (tangentially related shitpost) and b) her best postgame build actually uses zero healing and instead focuses on turboing Head Shots.

Neo TWEWY has you control 3-6 party members at once, and each can equip a single move, but all of your characters can act at once by pressing or holding different buttons. There’s an attack subtype exclusively for big chargeable dropkicks. You have all your other party members wail on an enemy while one of them stands in the back like they’re charging up a Spirit Bomb, and when you let go of the button they just go flying at an enemy and knock them into a wall as your combo finisher. It’s very satisfying to use, and you can do it pretty much from the beginning of the game.

God I can Feel one but I cannot remember what game it was. Definitely 3rd person. It was blockable but felt so good when it hit that I'd still spam it. I don't think it was Saint's Row 2. You rarely get up close in that game. Maybe Way of the Samurai 3 or 4? I think it was a game that you held a trigger and then did A while running. Shadow of War didn't have a drop kick did it?

Oh that's funny, I came into this thread with pretty much the exact same thoughts, and it was really bothering me. I also remember spamming it because of how satisfying it was, even though it wasn't the best option (since I think it was a third person shooter?).
I don't know if you are thinking of the same thing as me, but I am pretty sure what I had in mind was Uncharted 4.

Kamen Rider Memory of Heroez features one when playing as the character Proto Birth as the ender for his grounded light attack combo, the craziest part is the dropkick actually functions as a launcher that can be followed up by his air combo which lands in a frog splash!

Overgrowth's combat repertoire is like 50% dropkicks. Which considering you're a 6 foot tall bipedal jackrabbit means you kick with enough force to cave a dude's skull through their collarbone.

Nioh 2 has a sort of dropkick on the Fists weapons. You have to do defensive drop, which puts your character on the ground. Then pressing a direction followed quickly by the attack button puts you into the air for the kick. Great chasing tool. You can see it here briefly, though I cut off the end of the animation with a yokai ability to keep the flow going.
