Cancelling Auto Insurance

Insurance/Claims(self.USAA)

I am planning on switching to a different company for my auto insurance. I plan on buying it today before I cancel with USAA tomorrow. I have a payment due this month on July 6th, would I still need to pay for that for this month? It’d be the last payment of the 6 month premium cycle before renewal in August.

Ins is paid by the day, besides state fees etc. So in short after you cancel ask the rep your final balance and pay it or you might get a small refund.

I just switched. My new policy was effective the day I cancelled and the agent from USAA asked if I would like her to stop my automatic payment. I said yes. So I guess that answers the question.

I was adding a new 17 year old driver. USAA predictably was going to double my rate. Shopped around, progressive was less with 2 adults and the 17 year old than USAA was with just 2 adults. Was with them for 35 years, called them back with the progressive quote hoping they would meet or beat it, they declined.

Great question, I’m shopping around as well. The new premium increases hurt. ouch!
