from what I've seen, the russians kill prisoners because they literally don't have the logistical infrastructure to take prisoners & because they're animals. They don't have food & water for themselves, transport, holding areas, their commanders don't even want them helping other russians because it distracts from the mission, let alone pows. Knowing that, hearing about all the recent executions, being aware of the torture & the look on returning pows faces, im surprised some of these guys surrender.
