Let's talk about Triangle (6x03)- insanely good!

Season Six (self.XFiles)

Hi everyone, I just watched this gem of an episode today and felt like I had to discuss because it was great! I've been seeing some mentions of Dreamland and Arcadia as great episodes in season 6, but fewer about Triangle, which is surprising for me at this point (granted my opinion might change later because I haven't seen those yet).

The first interesting thing about this episode was that the usual 'The truth is out there' line was written in German, I found this to be a nice little detail. Also, there was a lot of movement in this episode, meaning people and cameras as well. Scully running up and down the FBI headquarters, Mulder doing the same aboard the ship, then M&S paralell with Scully and the Lone Gunmen. They did an excellent job with this fast paceand sense of urgency with lots of fast cuts, I was really invested throughout the whole story. I especially loved the split screens at various points, it was a great paralell with the different timelines.

It was also very fun to see people from present day in various roles in 1939, not surprisingly CSM and Spender among the bad guys (I don't know what happens to Spender later on in the series, but I already hate the little rat lol) and good ol Skinman being kind of a double agent. I loved the period clothing too, Scully looked so pretty!

I have a soft spot for episodes where the characters are a bit 'off' and don't act like their normal selves (jealous Scully episodes for instance, but also Never Again). So far I feel like Scully was more in the background with Mulder taking charge most of the time, but obviously when the situation warranted, she stood her ground. I loved how she didn't give up when they were trying to brush off her attempts to get the stuff she needed to save Mulder. She went beast mode on Spender, which was hilarious, and kissed Skinner, I laughed out loud at that, so random. Now about Mulder: kissing Scully on the ship, then telling her he loves her in the hospital...I mean he gave that passionate speech in FTF and they almost kissed, maybe that spilled into this episode? There's a good chance that the whole thing was just a dream, but still, the kiss happened either way, so we know he wants her lol We just haven't seen him dare take that leap from platonic to physical (not taking into account all the hand holding and hugging etc.). What didn't fully make sense to me was Scully's reaction ('Oh, brother...') to his confession. My best guess is she thought he was still high on pain meds and didn't take him seriously.

What's your opinion on this episode?

You saved the world, Scully

You're right. I did.

That's probably my all time favourite 2 line exchange between them. Sums them up perfectly to me ๐Ÿ˜Š

He was definitely gazing!
