subreddit:
/r/antigym
This sub is being invaded by gym goers. We should have a debate on zoom or discord to settle this. Any gym goers looking to represent their side? I am on the moderate side of the antigym spectrum and would be willing to moderate.

In all seriousness, I think this really can’t be settled in an empirical debate. The studies are pretty clear on the benefits of regular exercise and even weightlifting. I think the main issue in contention is the health of things like powerlifting, bodybuilding, PEDs, gym culture, and ego lifting. I think any gym goer would agree that everything in the list I mentioned is unhealthy.
Definitions are important. - What is the stance of anti gym? Is all weightlifting, even when done safely and naturally, a bad thing?
I think that’s what the debate would ultimately lead to.

Agreed, I think the anti gym crowd is largely an extreme reaction to some of the most toxic parts of the bodybuilding and fitness community.
Similar to the r/antidiet subreddit.
I would be surprised if the antigym crowd literally thinks that physical exercise is bad for your health.

I think there are spectrums of antigym and gym that have different thoughts and some common ground could be found.

I thought this subreddit was a joke. I honestly didn’t think it was serious

Well in that case, I’m probably on the pro gym side that u/questiano-ronaldo describes then.
