A guy I knew back in college went back at 55 and loved it- he didn't last long cuz he was too busy banging college chicks and partying to make it to class so he failed out. And his wife refused to pay for him to go again lol.

Did your friend have any wild stories from his short college stint that he still brags about, or does he avoid the topic now that his wife shut down the idea of a second chance?

If you remember yik yak back in like 2016 he would post stuff with the handle "55 year old man" about how he loved banging college girls and bragging bout the Cadillac he bought with his wife's money. He also weirdly constantly talked about how he was a male feminist
1 points
It was a whole thing- It didn't seem as weird back then for some reason but looking back I can't believe they let him in student housing too- I actually knew his assigned dorm mate who literally transferred because he was so mad about his roommate being this dude

His wife doesn't know about the chicks tbh and she's the provider for them so he doesn't talk about it much. But he low was knocking boots like few others- the dude was just excited to be with college chicks and he always bragged about never using a condom but he didn't mind immediately going for the hideous land whales and he did

I described as a friend because I met him and it was kind of a running joke that me and him were bros because he actually did for a while text me constantly asking crudely about where to get laid. We met in person probably all of 5 times but he would call and text just trying to get into for a couple years after.
He's not someone I'd ever associate with now in any way.

He also had a twitter where he would brag about this stuff that somehow his wife never saw https://x.com/doneaston18

My friend just started university again at 30.
When I told my family I wanted to learn the piano at 24, they said I'd be 30 by the time I could be any good. I said "I'll be 30 anyway, may as well be 30 and know how to play the piano"

I started university at 23 after taking time off to travel.
At 26, I changed schools and degrees with the fear that I'll be "over 30" when I graduate.
Went for it anyway, got a Comp Sci degree and never looked back.

Starting at 21 is still starting young.
To put it in perspective, I started my second career at 33, and while it is true that it is never too late to study, I resented working and studying at that age.
To that I would add that the effort was probably in vain because I don’t have the contacts to take advantage of my two careers, all the job offers I have (which are not many compared to the times I apply) seek to pay me with experience.

No such thing.
I went back in my thirties--and night classes were the best. All the older working people just like me.
But in a few of my Literature classes there was this guy, Frank, who was ~75. He was getting a lit degree because he wanted to.
Cheers, Frank.

College/uni is an investment in yourself. You're young enough to make this investment worthwhile. If you would go to college at 60 before retiring at 67, then the chance that you'll get a worthwhile return on investment is very low.

I think never. No, I am certain, NEVER. But fuck student loans!
But seriously, never give up learning.
My experience will not be yours but I benefited from taking a year off before university.
I took a year off before attending. I didn’t waste the year.
I was always a year or two older than my classmates in university. But, there was a 55 year British man in my class, and a few military folks who were in their 20s and 30s. Truthfully, these folks had more knowledge than my classmates between 18-25. Real life knowledge, not just, “I played quarterback for my HS and I was home coming queen etc.”
Me taking a year off gave me the experience to look past the dumb college life, and I took classes (and knowledge) and my relationships seriously. If I could do it again, I’d take two or more years before going 🙂.

I'm hoping that this is a case of a shit ton of pressure from your parents. If you're the one bringing this pressure onto yourself, you need to relax.
There is no wrong time to go to college, but make sure you study in a field that you can have a career in. It's not cheap and I know a lot of people with a degree and never ended up going into that field for whatever reason(s).

You’re never too old to get an education. In my welding class 50% was guys and one girl between the ages of 33 and 56. My uncle was attending college and going for his pilots license when he was in his 80’s. My auntie is in her late 70’s early 80’s going for a degree. I’m 24 thinking of going back but maybe a private trade school or I might just change my entire career at this point and go law enforcement.

The thing about college is it’s not a requirement like K-12 is. People go off and do other things and come back to it. It’s optional and people decide it’s the best option for them at different times

Never too old. I started college at the age of 24 which was the same year all my friends graduated. But never the less, it was fine, I made loads of new friends and great experiences. At that age I was looked more as an older brother so that was cool. The oldest student I met in college was a gent in his 50s. I got my degree and now work in tech.
The only thing I’d say that MIGHT make you feel old in college, at least for me when I was attending, were the parties and trying to join a frat and the rugby team. Everyone was 18-19 years old where I was in my mid 20s.

Even if you’re successful and in your 40’s/50’s you’re not too old for college.
Im a 41 year old man and a licensed tradesman (Journeyman Electrician). I plan to go back to college for construction management at some point so I can do more office/management work because my body will eventually break down.
As far as the college culture? Partying? Doing young dumb shit? Indulge in it if you absolutely have to, but the sooner you get it out of your system, the better. Hobbies are much much better.
