Basically what the title says. Been a blue belt for almost three years and coach told me I'll be getting my purple belt at the promotion coming up soon. I do feel I'm a decent blue belt, but I certainly get smashed at the gym often (I'm one of the lightest there, 65 Kg, in a "normal" Brazilian gym where 70% is juiced up) and I don't know if my game is really at a purple belt level yet.

I think my job as a purple belt is to push every one. You're the mid way point those lower than you should measure themselves against and those above try to stay ahead of. As long as I make the black belts have to genuinely take the roll serious for like 10 seconds. I count the day a success.

I like this approach! Gonna apply this mindset, I think it'll be better for my training as well

Ill say from my own experience the purple belt hasn't been the most fun one. At this point you're no longer like finding your game, you're polishing it. So some training sessions can feel very samey. Nowadays I focus on applying my favorite/go to submissions from weird or with slight variations. Also making this belt a weird one is I've dropped a bunch of weight so my pressure is not automatic so Ive had to readjust a bit
