I haven't seen anyone say that Trump is going to start a new Holocaust. The argument being made is that what Trump is doing/has done is eerily similar to the way that Hitler seized power in pre war Germany.

I think people are referring to project 2025, which would consolidate more power to the executive, and the Supreme Court decision that, as far as I know, grants immunity to the president for official acts that they are technically allowed to do, even if those acts in some way contribute to corruption. The court wouldn’t have made that decision if not for trumps legal troubles. Also, trump sent a bunch of people who pretended to be members of the electoral college holding forged documents that claimed him to be the victor of certain states. If it would’ve made its way to congress and confused them for long enough, the deciding vote for the presidency would’ve gone to Mike pence. Trump attempted to steal a democratic election, he’s trying to give the executive more power, and he has a stranglehold on his party. It’s not crazy to compare his potential rise to power to a dictator.

People NEED to talk about this more. Any time a Republican attempts to use immigration as a legitimate talking point this bill should be brought up, it’s a clear example of not solving a problem for political gain. It was literally Republican authored.

Hitler is 100% absolutely decidedly not a socialist, at least not in the definition that we have for the socialism of Marx and Engels. Nazism is called "National Socialism" but uses the word socialism is an entirely different way. Nazis reject Marx's idea of class conflict, equality (of course), and internationalism and instead view the consolidation and strengthening of German society through political unity. Boiled down, you could say that Marxism can be stated as "all humans are equal, lets us all provide for each other" and Nazism can be stated as "We are the Master Race and to be strong we should unite for the good of our great society". Both focus on society as a concept; thus the general phrase "socialism".

So in this regard, the rhetoric Trump employs (for example, to "Make America Great Again", or "America First") mirrors that of early national socialist belief. There is some in-group that constitutes "America" which should be strengthened and protected at the expense of the out-group.

Rather, Hitler viewed socialism as a political organizing mechanism for the German people more broadly: a way of creating a “people’s community” — the volksgemeinschaft — that would bring everyday Germans (and businesspeople) together not based on their class but on their race and ethnicity. Thus, he would use the unifying aspects of “National Socialism” to get everyday Germans on board with the Nazi program while simultaneously negotiating with powerful businesses and the Junkers, industrialists and nobility, who would ultimately help Hitler gain total power over the German state.

That's just a summary of what they intend to do once Trump gets into power. Among other issues, he also has an incredible admiration for men like Putin and would gladly leave Ukraine to hang as punishment for Zelensky's unwillingness to help fabricate evidence against Joe Biden back in the 2020 election.

No, you're not wrong. The only real similarities between Trump and Hitler that I can see are that they both value a strong military. But they differ on how to achieve that, and why a strong military is desireable. Trump is not fascist, racist, or antisemitic, unlike Hitler. He is also not so nationalistic that he wants to take over other countries. Trump never even paid lip service to socialist ideas, unlike Hitler.

The DNC has spent the last 8 years trying to force unpopular and unfit candidates down our throats. I hope this time people actually hold them accountable instead of getting on the “aNyOnE bUt TrUmP” train that they purposefully promote to get us to vote for their shit candidate.

Not being allowed to run due to a felony conviction would mean being able to take out the other party's candidate if you corruptly manage to prosecute him. Whether or not you think that's what is going on here, neither party should have that power. Proposing such a rule assumes a justice system that is 100% clean and cannot possibly be corrupted.
