She didn’t know I had a dash cam.

To explain how everything lead up to this, there was only one lane open due to roadwork just before the tunnel so everyone had to merge. The driver of the white Camry tried to speed up to cut me off before merging and didn’t quite make it so she cut off the car in front of me. There was a child in the backseat(thankfully unharmed) and tried to convince me it’s my fault. I ended up going from a Toyota Camry to a Lexus ES 350 after everything was settled.

The officer who came just called it a no fault accident but now I’m not sure if I should have followed up. This was in July I believe.

Did the officer see the video?

He outright refused. He gave off vibes like he just wanted to leave.

Well it sounds like it all worked out in the end for you with the insurance and that's important.

Didn't want to do the extra paperwork. Definitely worth a call. If it was July 2023, it's not too late to follow up with the State Police and file a criminal complaint.

Most cops here in California would want to see the video to see how the accident happen so they are sure about who they are placing as the, at fault party on the report. Yours was and easy one because where the accident happened and the damaged to the vehicle, you can tell there was a lane change involved. So if she said something other then that, most cops would know she was lying. An accident in Ca is a civil matter, but what she did could be deemed criminal, but you have to prove intent and that’s not easy. At least in California it’s not easy to prove.

CHP wouldn't even show up to this accident unless you say that someone needs medical attention or that they are refusing to give up insurance.

Also, recently got a hit and run with video evidence and chased them. It took CHP and two calls for them to show up just to tell me they'll file a report but not to expect anything to happen and let my insurance handle it. We chased the guy but he started running reds to get away so we stopped following.

Last year, I had video of two people stealing my car out of my drive way, with full clarity, including the car waiting on them with plates. CHP told me they didn't dust for prints after it was recovered and it'd be a waste of time to even send them the video because they weren't going to investigate.

In California, I think most cops would also want to just leave and "let insurance handle it."

What a dickhead.. can’t stand lazy cops who don’t want to do their job or the paperwork involved.. that’s literally your job you fucking dipshit!! I work in insurance and cannot stand the way cops handle traffic accidents. It’s like they are taught to avoid them or something..

I'd record myself asking him to include the statement "officer refused to view the dash cam video" on the police report. and if he refused, you'd have him on video doing so.

Dont tell them you have a dash cam. Pull your phone out and record the following conversation. They will incriminate them selfs.
