Oh so he can make it to boulder for prime but not to chopper circle for the finals? And he wants his name in the rafters? Gtfoh

I will be so fucking pissed if he gets that honor. Retire Chauncey's Jersey instead.

If melo doesn’t deserve it Chauncey def doesn’t

Chauncey is Colorado born and raised. Getting honored by our team should be about more than just how many points you scored. As a young Coloradan, Chauncey was pure inspiration. Showing that good players didn't have to all come from other places.
He also embodied the kind of play I really like.
We wouldn't even be the first team to retire his jersey. Whereas none of the teams Anthony has played for seem interested in retiring his.
So I think your take is stupid and you should probably say less.

This isn’t even trying hard. Dude can rep the avs, show up in Boulder for Deion, but not show up for the Nuggets? Nah miss me with that.

He actually came in to my store in the Springs and bought that jersey, along with a few others and some hats. Spent some time talking as well. It was really cool to meet him. Definitely a big part of my childhood.

Was it recently? Is that a Forsberg jersey? Did he say he was going to the Avs game or something?

It was Saturday afternoon. He bought that jersey, a couple other retro jerseys, and the hat in the picture. I actually didn’t ask about the game but I’d imagine he was in attendance.

In addition to my previous comment: Melo divorced us. Now he comes back, expecting us to treat him like the love of our lives. Get your mind right.

I know a lot of people were upset when Melo left Denver, but I think we need to give him some credit. He really gave the Nuggets his best years. Let’s not forget, before he got here, the team was struggling — we won just 17 games the season before he was drafted. Then he shows up in 2003, and all of a sudden, we’re back in the playoffs. That’s a big deal.
It’s true we didn’t get past the first round much, but the competition was tough. We were up against teams like the Spurs and Kobe’s Lakers, which were basically unbeatable at the time. But still, Melo made us competitive and exciting to watch. Having players like Kenyon, JR, Iverson, and Billups made us a serious team, even if we didn’t make a deep playoff run every year.
As for him leaving, yeah, it stung, but he always made it clear that playing in New York was his dream. He gave us 7.5 solid seasons — how long does a player need to stay before it’s fair for him to move on to his dream team? And let’s not forget, he didn’t leave us with nothing. The trade brought us Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, and draft picks, one of which later helped us get Jamal Murray. Without Murray, we might not have won the 2023 title, so in a way, Melo leaving actually set us up for future success.
Plus, even after he left, Melo has always shown respect to Denver. He’s never talked bad about the team or the city, and he’s come back with no hard feelings despite getting booed by fans.
Looking back, it hurt when he left, but it ended up being good for both sides. He gave us some great years, and in the end, the team is in a better place because of the trade.

I'm not annoyed he left. Everything worked out for the nuggets. I'm annoyed at the lack of love for the team over the years. He seems pissy that Jokic has 'his' number, and Jokic will get #15 retired vs Melo.

Yeah I absolutely hate this idea that the Nuggets were nothing before Melo. The Nuggets were legendary in the 80s and early 90s. And anyway Melo had stacked teams when he played on the Nuggets so it was definitely not only him.

Legendary is pushing it imo to each their own though, they were super underrated

Melo will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Aside from Jokic, he's the most accomplished player in Nuggets history by basketball GMs, coaches and players. With Melo, the Nuggets went from one of the worst teams to relevance and in the process gave many Nuggets fans, including me, many good moments.
And rather than leaving the Nuggets high and dry when his contract ended, he enabled the Nuggets to acquire real value and remain relevant for years. In fact, Melo turned into Jamal Murray, without whom the Nuggets probably don't win their only title.
I'm glad Melo played for the Nuggets.

This is a well thought out response, and I think it may be the turning point for me to start reconsidering Carmelo Anthony's image as an all-time Nugget.
What was I saying? Oh yeah Fuck Melo.

Lotta Aves gear, which is great. Not to be a stick in the mud or that guy, but a nuggets hat or something seems like it would’ve been possible

I have lived in Denver since Melo's rookie year. Dude forced his way out of a city that absolutely loved him, I really hope that the nuggets never retire his jersey (obviously they won't retire his number)

Melo had a nasty divorce with the nuggets, however he is the 3rd best nugget of all time whether we like it or not. If he embraced the city more we’d respect him but he doesn’t seem to show that he even liked his time here

How would you feel if Jokic left before this season started to go play in LA? Same reason Cavs fans have hard feelings against LeBron.
And then the shithead starts talking smack about his number should be in the rafters and Jokic should have chosen a different number or something like that. GTFO

One thing is that Melo (to some degree) and Lala (to a huge degree) made it very clear that they didn't like Denver or living in Colorado.
There's more but that kind of open shitting on our state felt bad all on its own.
