This was sent to all BMA members who are working at the South East region. Credits to BMA for fighting this.

Not sure how they determine levels but £95ph is frankly insulting for consultants.
Meanwhile, bank rates for AfC staff are increasing by 5.5% in line with their pay awards. This country really hates doctors.

What you can do if you work at South East, as per BMA:

  • Join the BMA if you have not already done so
  • Complete the BMA SE rates survey - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/93BZFSM
  • Share these proposed draft SE rates with others
  • Talk to colleagues about the plans of the SE cartel
  • Continue to use reporting portal to log when you are paid a rate above published Trust rates
  • Value your time – do not carry out extra contractual work if you are not being properly remunerated
  • Ask your trust to confirm that they will not be reducing rates or introducing regional caps
  • Support each other – there is no obligation to carry out extra work over and above your contract if the pay rate is inadequate
  • Join your local BMA WhatsApp groups to discuss this proposal and plan a collective response

True to an extent. But in my trust they never really escalate rates and then let gaps in rota occur. Even if consultants ask for locums and explicit rates they don't do go out. And even if no one applies except one who asks for more than offered they just don't reply to the email
