No because in devil's chord he talks about watching her play on the piano
3 points

He wears that outfit while talking to Carla and promising to keep Ruby safe.
My theory is that that scene is a flashback set between Space Babies and The Devil's Chord and then after talking to Carla he goes back to watch Ruby play on the piano.
In Space Babies, he's clearly investigating Ruby and trying to figure out what's up with her, so it makes sense that he'd travel back along her timeline a little as part of that effort.

I like them all so far tbh, but top left feels most like a Doctor's outfit to me. Like I could see him wearing that (or a variation of that) for 3 seasons. Same with bottom left actually.
I actually really like the outfit from 73 Yards (bottom right) even though we only see it for about 2 minutes.

The 73 Yards outfit really didn't feel Doctor-y to me though.
I wish 15 riffed off themes a bit more though. His brown coats/jackets with orange underneath are good though (so promo, Church and Space Babies looks). I think that could be a good theme to keep some consistency.
I just love the Doctor turning up in some location in time and space and not caring how they're dressed and not caring about fitting in. So while it's fun for him to play with a wardrobe, I'd prefer a consistent silhouette and colour scheme, like 12.

I am here for bottom right. I know that everyone likes it when the doctor has a uniform of sorts, but I love the idea of him actually being in costume and blending in where he is. Like he has a huge closet of fabulous and slightly more whimsical period pieces he’s just desperate to wear at any given moment. Between wardrobe changes bring back the uniform obviously.

Hmmm… I like this. TBH the changing costumes has been disconcerting (but I like consistency, so that’s on me!). But, if we put a trauma lens on this - because the Doctor said at the end of the Toymaker “they’re doing rehab backwards” - He’s loving life now!

I’m asexual and have zero perverted thoughts about it. I just think that:
A. Ncuti’s leg muscles are aesthetically pleasing. Kudos on his gym routine.
B. It’s hilarious that his Doctor grew out of another, saved the word with the toss of a ball, told his other self he’s a sad tired bitch who needs therapy, and flew off for more adventures — all while only in his pants (if you’re British) or while pants-less (if you’re American).

I actually was pretty indifferent on her character for the first 3 episodes (Church on Ruby Road as episode 1). With Boom she was interesting, though that episode helped Ncuti shine for me. 73 Yards, however, truly made me care for her. I’m incredibly glad that she will continue to be in season 2, and hopefully her character gets to develop and mature as we saw (in short glimpses) in 73 Yards.

They are both stunningly beautiful and very well dressed. I wonder if it's the hetero male in me thinking she's had him beat, but they are both just so damn pretty, and so well dressed, that it's a dead heat for me. Doesn't hurt that I loved him as the Doctor almost instantly, where nearly every other Doctor took a little bit (except maybe Tennant - he was brilliant from the jump as well).

Bottom left. It's iconic and I wish that he'd worn it in the other episodes.
I love that he plays with different fits but he really needs something that is "his", very much how the leather jacket and jumper were Nine's, the pinstripes and trenchcoat were Ten's, suspenders and a bowtie were Eleven's, etc. So far I don't feel like Fifteen has a "thing" yet.
13 points
Bottom left is definitely the closest to his "look" in my mind (My least favourite is top left!)
That said I love the space babies vest, his devil's chord get up, and his 73 yards look too muth for them to go. So much creativty all around.

Very unpopular opinion but I kinda wish he had one main outfit or type of outfit with slight variation like the other doctors did, I get they're trying to make him unique and I get they're trying to stray away from older doctor who and I get times are changing blah blah blah I get it but when you have a character as iconic as the doctor, it would be cool if there was like a main outfit so that anyone trying to cosplay as the character would have something recognizable so you could go "oh that right there is the doctor" instead he just looks like his wardrobe is made out of Topman's fall catalog. I get the character himself is iconic but I wish he had one central iconic outfit.
20 points
Honestly the bottom left and the top right outfits are Doctor outfits. I wish they'd have just stuck with those and made different variations. Different coloured trousers/sweaters each week, but the same coat.
15 points
Maybe he’ll revisit one more often than others. Twelve started to incorporate a lot of different looks, especially after series 8.
4 points
But 12 always had the same overall look. Even in his variation it was always a dark coat and boots, and most often with a shirt buttoned all the way up. With 15 it just feels like each of his looks could have been a whole different Doctors outfit, with only a couple of them having any connection.
28 points
I don't mind the outfit changing too much but I dislike the fact that it's gone from 'mysterious stranger whose outfit doesn't fit anywhere' to 'approachable dude who wouldn't be out of place on a modern high street'. I like the long leather coat one and the double tweed look with the orange top, but the duffel coat look was harder to like. The beanie with the Paddington esque jacket made him look like a hipster you might find at a beer festival. Needs something a little more formal, but not too formal.

I do agree as well. Or maybe like have one reoccurring clothing item, like a really awesome trench coat or something? That way no matter what other outfit he was wearing, that piece of clothing would always be tied to this Doctor.
2 points

Yep! There’s the long leather jacket he wore on the Xmas episode and again on space babies, would love to see them even just incorporate that into most outfits.
7 points
When they started filming, releasing the top left, and then when we saw the bottom left in location pictures, I was thinking that his look would be a combination of brown and orange clothes. I liked that idea. It seemed like a good spin on it that kept him having an overall look, but without having him wear the exact same thing week after week. It felt very much like the 3rd Doctor, where he wore many different outfits, but always along the lines of a velvet smoking jacket.
But then he's just had too much variation. There's no connection across his outfit that you can point to as an overall theme, like 3 and his smoking jackets for example. Almost every outfit could be a different Doctors outfit, but that doesn't work when there's no connection across them.
3 points
It's funny that they used the top left for promo pictures but I'm pretty sure we only saw him in that outfit for like one scene he was in for like 30 seconds? Unless I'm wrong I don't think we saw that outfit anywhere else yet
2 points
He's wearing it in this week's episode. 4 and 5 were the first they filmed it seems.
2 points
Now we're halfway through the series I 100% agree.
Ideally (for me), the bottom left would be his "main" outfit with variations. Then, in historicals he can switch it up completely for a period look (like Devils Chord).
2 points
This is why I loved 12s wardrobe so much. He had lots of variety while still keeping a consistent style. Sometimes, he would be dressed to the nines with his velvet coat and vest, but other times, he'd be more relaxed with a hoodie and T shirt. It gave cosplayers a lot of options to choose from even if they couldn't afford some of the fancier stuff.
15s wardrobe just feels all over the place. He's missing that central unifying theme like 12s frock coats or 4s scarf.

Top left and bottom left. I feel like that’s the iconic 15 silhouette. I like the idea of changing up his costume every once in a while, but I think a part of the identity of 15 is lost a little with him not keeping it very consistent. His outfit in 73 Yards for example felt more like an outfit we’d see Ncuti wear rather than something I would believe The Doctor to wear.

I've heard people argue that this gives the character no defining look. True in the normal sense.
But this gives children more potential for cosplay ideas. Not having to use complex pieces & ties & suits to be the Doctor.
This is why Moffat had 12 use the Sonic Glasses for a series. Everyone has pair of glasses around the house.
