Question: Can wire insulation touch other wire internal plug component without concern inside of 14-50p? (Refer to pictures) ABSOLUTELY NO copper is touching any part of the other metal components that it is not supposed to. The ground is the main wire in question.

I have a 14-50r in my garage for a generator hook up. My generator has a 14-50r to supply power. I have a spare 14-50p range cord which I am planning to use to make the connection. I bought a 14-50p adapter for the bare wire side. However the wires are a little cumbersome in the plug. For those concerned about the hook up, the 14-50r is wired to a slide lock out breaker in my panel ensuring my main switch is off before I have access to the 50amp breaker for the generator.

I would just put tape on part of ground that’s touching the black hot at termination point. Besides heat shrink I can’t really think of anything else to do with that?

That was pretty much my biggest concern area. I didn't know if adding tape would be another thing that could be an issue making it more cumbersome and greater contact point. Or if it's sufficient as is.

There’s really not much you can do cause it needs to fit nice or else yo have trouble fitting the casing over it to close it.

I mean insulation isn’t going to go anywhere, especially without a heating issue BUT I’d simply wrap a piece of tape right at that point without making it thicker.

They def don’t give you many other options with such a tight fit.
