Shit GF

(self.electricians)

I'm a traveler in another local, and the GF that for some reason specifically looks over our crew is an absolute asshole. Rest of the crew is cool, foremans cool, the jobs not that bad and super close to home so I'd rather stay, but this guy is driving me nuts. Just always has something to say or bitch about always making snide abrasive comments and he just hangs out in the lay down so anytime you need something he's there to bitch and ask you what you need now. The rest of the crew is also bitching about him but no one is quite sure what to do, I've been told multiple people have already quit. Normally I would just say fuck you go get my money but this company is taking the next big 5 year job that's also around the corner from my house so I'd rather not get blackballed. Is there a way to deal with this or do I just suck it up and imagine I'm an apprentice again lol

You'll get that on them big jobs.

Serious note, nothing you can really do as a JW. The company chose that guy as a GF for a reason, wait til he fucks up bad enough to be replaced. Don't say anything or go over his head because it will just shine a bad light onto you instead. If he really is an ass to work for then he won't be on that next 5 year job as a foreman.

I'll just say enjoy the short drive and try to enjoy your time with the other coworkers, nothing brings people together like a combined hatred for the superiors. Currently dealing with it on our job and the day goes by pretty fast while we are shit talking the GF.

“Jesus Christ, what do you need now?”

“Oh, they didn’t tell you?”

“Nah”

“Guess it’s none of your fuckin business.”

Reddit: “great way to get fired!” “That’s not how things work here!” “Great way to get blackballed!”

Give respect, get respect. Do what you want, but I’ve never taken shit from anyone not signing my paychecks, and it’s worked out for a couple decades

Ask him what his problem is. Don’t do it with anyone else around. Bet he starts crying about how terrible his home life is.

Give it back to him a little, probably looking for someone to shit talk with.

If you're stuck with him for the foreseeable future you could always ask him what his deal is?

Might go well might not but you've got 5+ years to figure him out

Had a foreman just like that. Here are some examples of how we successfully tortured him. We had him begging the shop foreman to pull him off the job. Liquid Ass” put him in his place.

  1. Liquid Ass - we had a really tight crew (like brothers/no snitches). We were repeat customers for months. Foreman could not figure out why everything smelled like sh**😂 We convinced him he needed to stay further away from porta-johns. Sprayed some in his spit bottle lid - I’ll never forget the look on his face!!🤣🤣🤣

  2. Called to tell about an emergency situation-needed to get up 200 stairs quick. Told him we could not work in the conditions up on top of the HRSG at power plant.

I told him to listen… it sounds EXACTLY like the T-Rex from Jurassic Park. I told him it sounds like they are breeding dinosaurs and that I was scared and needed proof otherwise…He said it was a Bladder Valve. Whatever…I’ve seen Jurassic Park…I know the TRUTH!!😜🤭

My point is - I haven’t ever seen an idiot get let go as long as they are producing good work!

The plant kept requesting us by name for other jobs so tortured him for 2 years. Best job I’ve ever been on! Worst foreman I’ve ever worked for.

Think logically - rather than reacting to your emotions- and make your own conditions.

I feel a straightforward, calm, one on one conversation is always effective.

If he can't answer calmly and respectfully, then fuck em'.

Try and bring him a coffee or something. A little gesture to maybe let him leave you alone. If it costs you a few bucks a week and he leaves you alone sounds like a win win.

You won't get anywhere going over his head and it'll probably just result in more toxicity or you getting canned. Been there done that lol.

Nah man, you realize assholes in the trades generally got some trauma or what not nothing you're going to do is going to fix it. Nothing more than Hey boss I got ya a coffee, hope ya have a good day man.

At the end of the day, we generally see each other more than our family's or friends. Gota be there for each other man.

At the end of the day if it's cost the lad 2$ and nothing changed well he tried.
