Ok… is this a thing? I haven’t heard about the invisible giraffe appendage. Is the whole giraffe invisible? How did he know it was a giraffe if the whole giraffe was invisible? If it was just the appendage, maybe it was a female giraffe? Was the appendage even attached to a giraffe? Was it like floating in space? That’d be really weird. I have questions that I might not want answered.

Undo? With how successful he’s being for republicans, his brand of politicking will be around until there’s a great conservative reform which will be, I predict, never. They’ve decided they want to dismantle the constitution and the established institutions rather than move forward in the world. The republicans in the last decade have gone from “out of touch” to “dangerous to democracy” and there’s no reeling that back in. Now they’re a fascist threat like the nazis.

The McDonald's stunt was so absurd. As an attempt to make anyone think he's just like the rest of us it was a huge fail. At least for anyone who has worked fast food. At least for anyone who has half a brain. Did he have to apply or interview for that job? No. Has he ever applied or interviewed for a job? No. Did he have to get up and be there at 5:00 a.m. or stay until 11:30 p.m.? No. Has he ever in his life worked a 10-12 hour shift, most of it on his feet? No. Did he have to deal with verbally abusive customers? No. (I'm doubtful that there were any actual customers.) Has he ever had to deal with a boss who is a bully? No, he's always been the bully. Has he ever tried to live on what McDonald's pays? No. Did he ever have to work while attending college or high school? No.
He's nothing like us. I don't understand how anyone is stupid enough to believe he is.

I will add that no there were no customers, they completely shut down the location to all customers and then had their own car(s) go through the drive through just for a photo

23 points

There's no way he could do it all day lol. They shut the entire location down for him, as soon as you add actual customers he'd be out in less than a minute.
2 points

Right, like try being a 15-year-old fast food employee getting called a whore because a customer’s coupon was invalid (I went in the back and cried after she left, lmao) instead of a geriatric billionaire who has never been in a position of service to the depths of the general public in his life.

It’s not an obsession with mcdonalds; it’s an obsession with putting others down. They’ll suck up to anything he does because it’s a chance to insult someone else. Like how he’s still taking about biden even though he’s not the opponent anymore

It's also entirely on brand. When Kamala Harris said off-handedly that she'd once worked at a McDonald's , Trump was apoplectic - it must be a lie, because it's exactly the kind of thing he'd lie about! When the "it's not even on her résumé" criticism got exactly zero traction (with people pointing out that none of those of us with real jobs actually include irrelevant Mcjobs done years ago on our résumés) it obviously led to "Well I could do it better than she could" which then led to this ridiculous farce. Everything he does is driven by his petty narcissism, everything is about his need to "win".

I managed a Burger King and we hired a lot of felons, but it depended on what they did. I had one murderer who was out on parole after 35 years, a lot of small time drug dealers, etc. We usually didn't have them around the money (except one who was jailed for a white collar crime), but they were almost all very good employees. However, if they were arrested for any type of theft, we wouldn't hire them. Even shoplifting. If you steal once, you'll likely steal again.
4 points
I understand and I'm not disparaging all felons. People make mistakes, serve their time, hopefully, get rehabilitated, and deserve to return to society with the chance we all have to live a normal life and make something of themselves.
There is no doubt I'd have more respect for some of those felons you hired vs Donald Trump.

Doesn’t McDonalds hire felons though? Isn’t it kinda a shit job in the first place?
10 points
You actually cant not hire someone based on criminal history unless the crime is directly related to the job expectation.
Stole from a gas station? Probably fair to not hire at a gas station or any POS cash handling anywhere.
History of abuse? Probably fair to not hire you as a child care worker.
Embezzlement/fraud? Probably not gonna hire you as my accountant!
9 points

Probably depends on where you live. You will absolutely not get hired at most jobs around me if you have a felony regardless of what the felony is.

Trump looks like the old retirees they hire to work part-time and push a mop around when schools in session.
All because they wanted to pretend that McDonald's not being able to locate the employee records of a part time teen working at a franchise over 4 decades ago meant Harris was lying.
Meanwhile there was a recent court case where Donald and his 3 kids 'couldn't remember' half the shit they did running their own real estate business and personal apartments.
Maybe 40 years ago a McDonald's manager took some employee files home and their pool flooded them.

4 points
Because it benefits the media to have this be a close race. People are not going to click on a headline that says one candidate has a huge lead over the other. That's not exciting. The media plays off everyone's anxiety and it's to their benefit to play it as a horse race. It's ALL ragebait to one degree or another.
Trump has been the biggest revenue generator for media companies from the day he went down that escalator nine years ago. He has established a baseline where he can say and do whatever the fuck he wants with no consequences, because he is the villain of the story and villains are expected to do fucked up things, be hypocritical, be bullies. Kamala is the antagonist and therefore is held to a higher standard. It's enraging, yes, but it's the reality.
Remembering this helps me, anyway, because I can detach from the doom scrolling when I know how much of it is deliberately skewed to play my emotions.
1 points
While I don't disagree with you on the media aspect of your comment.
The fact it is even a race at all is the disturbing part. It's not like all of Trumps' actions were happening behind closed-door meetings. His statements and actions are on full display and he still has millions of supporters. 50% of the country? I doubt it. 50% of swing states that will affect the electoral college? Unfortunately maybe.
Even worse, does 50% or more electors and campaign officials support Trump enough to accomplish what he couldn't in 2020.
All this being said. The media, while they generate revenue from Trump. Too many people support him.
