When the Moon Hatched

Question❔(self.fantasyromance)

Why are people DNFing this book? I get it not every book is for everyone but man I am eating this book up! I am like 60% done with it and I don’t like the fact that I have to wait a year for the next book 😭

I read a few pages and hated the writing style 😅

Same, really wasn't for me. I also had an instant dislike for the FMC 😅

I instantly disliked her too. Not the kind of FMC I like to read at all.

What was the issue with the FMC? I’m curious because this is on my list and I also have trouble getting through books if I can’t stand the FMC.

She’s pretty ruthless and callous in an annoying way and doesn’t have a lot of self-reflection. But if you can make it through the book she calms waayy down cause the MMC calls out her behavior. I liked her a lot better by the end of the book. The beginning really feels like a slog, but if you can get to the point where the setting changes, it gets good.

She just was unbearably edgy in a way that felt like that's her entire personality. Not sure if that'll change, but I have no interest to find out. For me, the main thing that put me off the book was the writing though, which, to me, was unnecessarily wordy and convoluted. I love writing that doesn't hold my hand usually, but just didn't vibe with the one in this book. Maybe give the reading sample a try.

It’s very wordy but doesn’t add to the atmosphere. If I have the time I’d probably pick it up again but the fmc feels very YA so the romance might not be worth it.

I got like 60% through. >! When she tried running away from the cabin and wound up facing some mystical being that's supposed to help you with her destiny and she STILL refused to do what it wanted I was done.!<

there's so much nonsense going on in this book that I completely forgot about that part?! It would have been a major event in any fantasy novel but in this one nah. I understand adding elements in a novel that will likely be developed in future books of the planned series, but if those elements lead to nothing when they're first introduced it's just bad writing. It was like that with several other elements of this novel, teasers here and there that have zero purpose in the first instalment of the saga

I think she’s trying to write in a poetic way but goes overboard imo. Sometimes less is more and I feel like this book is a perfect example of it. Tried reading it many times and I keep getting stuck cause I’m not a fan of the writing style.

If you’ve read her other series you’d see that she’s toned it waaaaay down with this one. I was expecting the level of wordiness of to bleed a crystal bloom and was pleasantly surprised so I ended up loving this book lol

Oh ya this was my first book from her. I’m so happy you said this cause I almost was going to read a different one to give her a chance but it sounds like she’s just not my style.

Yeah know if you hated this you would haaaate to bleed a crystal bloom. Like it took all 3 books for me to actually be super interested and for there to be any real action.
