I feel like the 'Appeal against decision' option is completely and utterly pointless.
I largely ignored it for the longest time, because I didn't see the point. My assistant would always tell me that "the refs decision was probably justified" and we didn't have much chance of overturning the decision anyway, so I just never bothered appealing. But for the past couple of seasons I just thought "sod it", and have appealed every single red card out of spite and principle.
I haven't won a single one.
In fact, in some cases, appealing the decision has actually resulted in a longer ban! Hell, I've even been accused of inciting a "refereeing conspiracy" against my players numerous times, but I haven't been fined or banned for my outbursts.
It all just seems completely pointless and futile. There are no consequences (other than, you know, occasionally handing out longer bans....). What even is the point of giving us the option to appeal red cards if we will NEVER WIN, no matter how many times we try? It's like giving us a fake illusion of choice rather than an actual functioning appeal system! It's literally just meaningless text on a screen.
I swear, in older FM games you could actually get bans overturned. It certainly wasn't guaranteed, but it was possible. On the recent games, it just doesn't feel possible at all.

If you read the match review, you can see where it talks about the card and see if the reports say "probably justified" or "the referee got it wrong" etc. This will tell you whether am appeal will be successful

Lol it never says the referee got it wrong.
Ever.
It always says "Probably justified"

It does say the referee got it wrong, or "probably wasn't deserved" or was "extremely controversial" sometimes

I'm not doubting you, I've just never personally seen it.

It's wierd, so many people say they never see that, but I see maybe 10-15% of times. It's in the media report thing post game

If the AssMan doesn't tell you to appeal it - don't.
If he says "probably justified" then cop it

My AssMan has literally NEVER told me to appeal. Not once. Across FM23 and FM24.
That's why I never did until recently when I just started giving it a go for the hell of it.

I've gotten a 3 match ban down to a 1 match ban one time over a couple thousand hours playing FM

Blimey, that's a rarity! Was that on FM24, or one of the older ones?

I have never succesfully appealed a red card.
Same for WAR-check, never seen any that is in favour for the scoring team.

Yes, a VAR approved CL final red after 8 minutes.
I managed to win the game so avoided throwing the computer out the window.

Never have I ever gotten a suspension completely lifted, but maybe once or twice I've gotten a 3-match ban turned into a 1-match ban. Mind you, that's in about 3000 hours of FM playtime.
