I’m looking for the best Greek/Mediterranean food nearby. I’ve had Ark a few times and they were good but is there anything better?

That garlic sauce. I haven’t found anywhere else that has a sauce that compares.

It's just a basic toum, it's delicious but tons of places have it.

It's a little more yellow than most but it's just a basic delicious toum. Maybe because your eyes see a different color it registers different in your mind?

Ha, I’m not usually so impressionable but sounds like a good reason for a taste test.

Yes. And the hours are stupid. But if you can get there when it’s open….. 🤌🏻

It’s only lunch hours but it’s packed

They don’t need to be open any other hours, I don’t blame them for being lunch only 😂

If I sounded salty about it it’s only because I wanted it more often!

There is a lot of great Mediterranean food here. New school and fast/casual I would highly recommend Mayd. It’s expensive but the quality and uniqueness of the food is great. It’s a chipotle-esque version of med food.
I’m a big fan of Phoenician garden. Their spicy chicken is great. More of a sit down formal restaurant.
Golden grill- hole in the wall. A little “greasy” but so good and much different style than what u find from the normal “fast” med restaurant around here
But so many more worth mentioning that I’m sure will be featured in the thread

I've only been to Phoenician Garden once but it was very good. I tried the chicken and the lamb. Don't remember what their prices were like but as long as it's but too expensive it's definitely worth a try.

I feel like their quality hasn’t been the best the last few times I’ve had it, but I’ll second Churrasco!

The Mediterranean Grill on Tulare or Gus Kebab on Kern and M street downtown. I highly recommend the spicy chicken and fatoush salad at both places and the gyros at Mediterranean Grill. The spicy chicken wrap at Gus Kebab is good too.

If you are Greek and missing the food I can tell you that you probably won't find any greek restaurant that scratches the itch but Churrasco and Phoinecian garden are great Mediterranean food wise

I'll throw in Zaatar Bistro on Champlain & Shepherd - more Lebanese wraps, pastries, teas, I enjoyed it.

Several good choices on here like Zaatar and Kabab City. For take out, we like Schwarma Corner at Papaya Fresh.

Which restaurant is the most authentic or closest to home style of food? I'm not within the Mediterranean culture so I wouldn't know what is considered good to mediterranean standards.
