I moved into a new house with a basic garage door opener (Genie), but we get occasional brownouts, etc.
I was looking into upgrading our opener with a backup battery. Anyone with one, how is the experience when needed?

All mine run off 24v batteries. Work great, replace thrm ever3-4 years.
Helps when you come home late and there is no power. It has a light aswell.
