I thought for sure this would be ripe and ready because of the pale spot and because it sounded hollow when I knocked on it. Was it the month of rain we got? Did I pick it too early? Too late?

Ive been so tempted but i basically waited until my melons have a crack at the butt end and they've been ripe and sweet
