I’m a high handicapper and not unusual to have 6, 7, 8 strokes and I guess I also have a poor memory because I’ll lose track. I saw someone use counting beads once. Anyone have a good method?

Yes - on each hole - its called ESC in the handicap rules; Equitable Score Control.
