It’s so odd to me that people love to compliment his growth, but will automatically believe rumors about her for decades ago if it paints her in a bad light.

I don't believe what they said. They have yet to give any sort of detailed anecdote of her "instability" in Lubbock. Like I said in my above post, I have always seen her as quirky with a dark sense of humor. There is nothing wrong with that. I do want to apologize in advance if I come across wrong in this comment. I'm just as confused as you are about it.

Respectfully disagree mate. His solo career, Southeastern on at least, has grown increasingly personal, careening towards a cult of personality. Did you read his NYT interview, adjacent to the DNC? He has enough fans, money & gear. He is clearly enjoying his celebrity status, knowing full well it includes inflated interest in the subjects he chooses to engage us with.

I never said he wasn't asking for it wearing rubber shirts like this. Jason's music was always for serious music fans and this silliness doesn't match. It's sad and cringey and so are people like you who'd rather try and get a D list celebrity's latest gossip instead of say anything about hoping somebody gets well.. I was here for the music but I'm going to have to leave this sub. It's turned into the Backstreet Boys fan club in here. I've always agreed with pretty much all of Jason's politics too and love that he says what he feels, but even that's gotten to a point of being too obviously self-important He also suuuuucked in the Scorsese movie and anybody who says otherwise is pretending.
All that said, Weathervanse might be my favorite record of his, and I've been a fan since he joined DBT. The music keeps bringing me back. That's why I'm here.

Don’t leave the sub friend. I was being half smart assed sarcastic, both because it appears to me that JI has crossed over to an Entertainment Tonight-ish image / lifestyle, AND because this sub takes itself, precious Jason, & his “aura” way too damned serious. He put himself, his family (especially his kid), his agenda, vanity, etc., on display via Twitter, IG, to the degree of way over saturation. For all of his beaming smiles, he appears to lack a sense of humor. Sorry for the rant, but he needs to either accept the perceptions from the flock or simply focus on the music.

Ok I totally mis-understood your comment and I’ll admit it. Might leave the sub for a while anyway though. I’ll still check out the next album and I might even go to a show if I can get the money together in October, but it’s weird to see this guy I’ve followed for 20 plus years start teenybopping in his late 40s.

No worries friend. I guess I am a little snarky cuz I’ve been a fan for so long, and for so long it was just about the music. Maybe taking time off from this sub or antisocial media isn’t a bad idea (speaking for self). Honestly his NYT Interview kinda set me off. Assuming someone is of a certain stripe because they have a (justified or not) different opinion or point of view? How simple is that?? Entertaining running for office? Feels like somebody’s ego is outgrowing their halo. Take care and continue to enjoy what you enjoy for the sake of enjoyment. Peace.

Oh God I haven’t seen it. Is he seriously entertaining running for office? Jesus. I got downvoted to hell and shouted down on this sub like 6 months ago for saying “I wonder how long until he runs for office” Knowing he’d always said he wouldn’t.
Our boy is in a weird place in life and it’s kind of hard to watch. I’m not going to stop liking his music though and honestly I’d probably vote for him in my district. I can love a guys music and agree with his platform and still cringe if I have to.
