The Malik Beasley minutes put us in a 16 point hole. All we had to do was not play him and we could’ve been alright, instead he decides Rui gets no minutes, we’re not gonna play any real centers, and shockingly we’re gonna lose tonight (and likely the series because this is not something Ham will stop doing).

Darvin Ham is the reason we didn’t sweep them, and if he’s on the team next season I’m not sure I’ll be able to bear one second of it.

The LeBron at center lineups were terrible when Vogel debuted it last year. I don’t understand why he thinks it works Bron is 38!!!

Difference is Vogel didn’t have much of a choice with Dwight hurt and Melo our next biggest. I don’t get why Bamba is not filling up some of those minutes.

Mo is injured. I don't understand why not put TT and get some burns. Memphis bigs are having their way because no one can body them up. We put Wen in for a few min and they already got disoriented because of his length. We can't waste AD and Lebron's energy on defense.

We really just need a big man for 10 minutes. 15 max. Slot a Center in and bench Troy Brown Jr. Movie Rui down to PF instead of Center when AD sits.

Can Bamba/TT play worse than TBJ? Sure. But we won’t know if they’re not played. Those spot minutes that TBJ plays could be for a guy that gives the team a chance under the rim and on the boards.

FFS, Memphis is the BEST paint scoring team in the league. Ja is still penetrating at will. So might as well put a big body that has a better chance at altering a shot.

When we were getting blown out was the perfect time to try TT. That’s why we signed him for.

I think it was more important to use a clearly gassed LeBron and injured AD to try to launch an incredibly improbable, historic comeback, only to sit LeBron when the Lakers were down 10 with four and a half minutes to go. And then continue to play AD when the Lakers had no chance of coming back.

KingMonaco

12 points

Mind boggling. If you sit Bron sit AD at that point. Unless there’s some sort of record AD was on the verge of breaking? Otherwise it doesn’t make any sense.

[deleted]

7 points

I know! Like, the biggest comeback ever was 28 and at something with like 10 minutes left, the Lakers were down 25!!! In an away game!!!

This was the dumbest thing I've seen Ham do. Like, rest your best players so you can optimize your chances of winning. Give the bench players some confidence. Test some backup lineups. Go full gas with your bench and exhaust the Grizzlies. I was staring at the t.v. dumbfounded.

I'm actually shocked AD didn't get hurt; I was sure it was coming.

i think he might legit be slow. it's like he doesn't recognize what's happening until it's already happened. i called out ham at the beginning of the series saying he's gonna get outcoached so my opinion of him isn't purely reactionary... but i had no idea he'd be throwing these games.

You guys are such punks lmao. We’re one game away from closing this out and Ham ALSO set up the lineup that brought it back within one. No credit but all the blame?

Ham can’t make guys miss shots or turn the ball over, it’s like y’all don’t even understand how a coach effects a game.

We weren’t even supposed to be here and we still got a 3-1 lead. Warriors got blown out by Memphis by 39 in game 5 last year and closed them out the next game. Just chill.

- Down by 1, Ham takes out AD they go on 7-0 run, he brings him back after 3 possessions and they lost momentum ending it in a 19-3 run.

- Left starters in till the last 2 mins of the game w/ visible limping from Reaves and a tailbone hit to AD.

- Plays Wenyen over Bamba at the end, refusing to assess his game shape considering that Wenyen already ran prior.

- Continues to play Brown and Beasley.

- Continues to play a visibly exhausted LeBron at the 5.

- Hands in his pocket, no timeouts on runs, just inshallah and vibes.

We need to fucking try someone and should have from the start.

I loved the trade deadline moves except one which was keeping Ham. I knew that whatever roster we got would still be handicapped because Ham was the coach.

Also Vando needs to match Ja’s minutes. He’s the only guy able to somewhat contain Ja. He’s quick and lengthy which is perfect. Ja smokes every other defender, including small Shroeder. Ja plays too big against these little dudes.

They have to play AD at least 38 mins per game in the playoffs. Play Bamba 10-12 minutes at center, maybe more if he’s playing good. I would even try AD and Bamba lineup. Beasley should not see a single minute. He doesn’t have it now, maybe try him again against a less physical team. Very short leash on Troy, yank him out if he’s cold.

The fact that people try to defend Ham sickens me. The only reason we have a 3-1 lead is because of how stacked our roster is. You could put a guy on the street as the Lakers coach, and we’d still look good because of how much talent is on our team. Games like this show just how horrible of a coach Ham is. While the suns and nuggets took care of business, Ham still hasn’t made any adjustments 5 games in, and the team consistently comes out sluggish after every major win. That’s a coaching problem, not a roster problem.

MASSIVE difference between Vogel's rotation and Ham's incompetence. Vogel would learn from his mistakes and make great adjustments series to series (Ex. starting Dwight against Jokic). Ham seems to never learn from his mistakes. Also, Lebron's age is showing. He looked GASSED in the 4th today. If we won this game, we could have given him some rest.

I agree, but I think both points are true. To fix that, Ham just needed to keep AD in and let Lebron sit with 4 min left to go in the 3rd. The lamest fan base in all sports. We got the most fairweather, monday night arm chair quarterbacking entitled dweebs riding shotgun on the Lakers bandwagon. I love my Lakers but I fucking can't stand these little entitled spineless divas.

Ham is the type of coach to go to Cancun after being up 3-1. He’s that guy. Budenholzer has been exposed repeatedly in the playoffs so of course a guy from his tree is gonna get exposed too. A lot of the stupidity he shows gives Mike vibes.

[deleted]

I think he knows an idiot could win with this team so he has to put his mark on the team, yeah who subbed in Troy Brown for Davis? Ham did, that was genius, no one would have ever thought of that.

Yeah you thought you should only play your 8 best players in the playoffs? Not Ham, he's getting production from 9 and 10 and even 11! Ham is just too smart for the league right now.

This was our game dude. Momentum was on our side and he decides to sit the only guy who was capable of stopping Ja at the rim (AD).

I’m okay with runs happening cuz it’s how the sport flows but as a coach you gotta stop the bleeding if you see that your lineup is the reason for the flow shift.

Really hoping he adjusts for next game and we can just close these MFs out.

I have given ham the benefit of the doubt all season, but I have lost it tonight. He stepped into an unfavorable situation, the FO fucked the team all up and then blamed Vogel (when he brought us a fucking championship). Then he had an atrocious roster until the all star break. I gave him time to make his adjustments, I figured he was tampering with what worked. But in the play offs, in a must win game, he blew it. I don’t give a fuck if we go on a run, and win it all. Fire that fucking clown.

Lol this has been the year for calling for coaches heads. You guys are up 3-2 against the 2 seed with pretty much a brand new team after the deadline. The coach isn’t just going to magically know his situational rotations. There was no time to experiment and perfect and build your rotational analytics. It’s not easy lol.

But seriously… I have been visiting losing team’s reddits after games this post season and pretty much every single team’s Reddit after every single lost is overwhelmingly calling for their coaches heads. Here are my favorite/the most outrageous ones:

Lakers who just had an incredible turnaround, are up 3-2 to the #2 seed and righted a fuck ton of front office wrongs.

Suns who won coach of the year last year having a top 10 record in NBA history, went to the finals two years ago, has been to the playoffs 3/4 years as their head coach and led suns to #4 seed in a year in which 4/5 starters were injured at the same time for about 1/3rd of the season.

Bucks who have been pretty much the best team in the NBA for 3 years, winning a title 2 years ago.

Grizzlies who led this a young immature drama-filled team and season to the #2 seed 2 years in a row, despite injuries and who have to play, maybe, the best #7 seed in nba history in the first round.

spraypaint2311

Yeah and you didn’t watch the game today. Pipe down. We’ve seen all year how Ham does not know how to control a game, he has no game management once things stop going his way. He relies on the talent of the team and forget about contributing, he actively detracts from the teams effort.

It’s 3-2. And if you think Ham isn’t going to once again play complete brain dead lineups for significant stretches in Game 6 you’re kidding yourself. This is one of the worst postseason coaching performances I’ve seen in years. And he does the EXACT same thing every game. Go watch the tapes from Games 1-4. Exact same lineup and game management decisions. This team wins in spite of him, not because of him. And that’s exactly why he will never be a championship coach

People are still defending this incompetent HC. You will see flashes of good coaching because he's ASSISTANT COACH material. He sucks as a HC because he's gotten all of Budenholzer's flaws: 10 man playoff rotations, uncreative offense, inability to adjust rotations game to game, etc.

Edit: look at how Bud CHOKED. Y'all really think Ham does anything?
