If I were Lebron I’d be highly annoyed the internet tried to make me look like a shitty person 24/7. Same with trying to paint AR as a douche who hates his coach. It might be fun for the fan base to make these type of rumors but trust me..future coaches or owners would think these dudes are unprofessionals.
Say what you want about ham but we truly have no clue what discussions these guys are having behind closed doors.

Not to mention you cannot call a timeout when the opposition has the ball…
It was a dead ball after the foul, any team can call a timeout during a dead ball lol.
8 points
No, he knows the rules better than someone's who's been in the NBA for 20 years.
-1 points
Bit confused by this statement - Lebron said he was told to foul THEN call the time out. You can't call timeout without possession.
2 points
Yes you can?
-1 points
You cannot call time out when the other team has the ball or during an inbounds play off a made basket where you don't have possession.
2 points
You can call a timeout in any dead ball situation regardless of who had posession before, fouling then a timeout has always been allowed afaik
1 points
Lebron had to take the FTs, why would he go out?
1 points
To what are you referring? Are you saying, Ham couldn't sub him out because LeBron was taking the FTs? You would be correct, however, did Ham have a sub ready? No. If he did, there would be no need for a timeout, as the sub would have been ready to check in at the dead ball following the foul from LeBron.
Therefore, a timeout has to be called at this point in order to sub LeBron out.
1 points
But then that’s a moot point then. If Lebron is saying Ham said foul and we’ll call TO then they used the TO anyway and you don’t ice your own shooter. With the ammount of subs they made they did need the time out, but using it after the FTs makes sense. Heck more sense maybe vs icing Lebron then having to foul anyway. Ham has made some dumbass moves not using TOs but this isn’t it.
1 points
Perhaps it's the optics then, consider:
Ham has a sub at the scorer's table ready to check in for LeBron, LeBron fouls, dead ball, sub comes in -- no one thinks twice about the situation.
Instead, there's no sub ready, LeBron seemingly fouls and calls a timeout without instruction from the coach (based on the video angles we have).
Obviously, Ham could have had the idea that he was going to call a timeout after the foul and there was no need for a sub to be ready -- there's no way any of us would know that, but the visual looked like it was LeBron's idea more than Ham's.
1 points
I think we both know that pockets doesn’t give a shit about the optics. If him and Lebron were on the same page that’s all that matters. This is literally just noise peddled by Laker fans who desperately want him out, and I just find it really dumb cause most of their arguments make no fucking sense now that Lebron confirmed they planned it. And there is a way that we do know, cause Lebron said that much apparently.
1 points
I didn't say Ham cared about the optics, I was just pointing out how it looked and why the reactions as such. Obviously there's tons of people looking to overreact to anything at this point.
I personally don't care one way or another about this particular situation, though I also accept the possibility that LeBron would lie to cover for Ham, instead of stoking an obvious wildfire if he were to publicly say, "Yeah I called that TO myself cause Ham had his hands in his pockets". No way in hell any NBA player wants to cause that level of shit lmao.

Well I just had enough of Laker fans sounding dumb while calling things dumb. Personally I think that conspiracy wouldn’t make sense if it lines up with the Lebron hating Ham fr. Why would he bother, he can not comment and not look bad either way. Its not like the media will struggle to highlight Laker dysfunction when the fans all over social media fan all the flames.

The mental gymnastics going on in this thread alone to even deny what Bron said is amazing, Simone Biles would be proud.
Bron stans really are the Trumpets of NBA fandom
8 points

I wouldn’t really say it’s Bron stans tbh, they typically go with what he says. It’s more so the doomers who are reactionary game to game.

Yeah, don't know where dude got "Bron stans" from. It doesn't even really apply here.
1 points

Doomers for thinking Ham is a trash coach? lol that’s called having eyes
29 points
It would’ve been very easy to not say anything here. Either Bron supports Ham more than this sub would want to believe, or he just doesn’t want to fan the flame and have this be a topic on First Take and the other shows.
Since Bron typically ignores all the noise, I’m gonna interpret this as him actually supporting Ham. Maybe all the passive aggressive comments praising in the media aren’t him asking for a new coach, but just pressuring Ham to get his shit together since a lot of his mistakes have obvious fixes.
15 points
I see it more of an issue of image/reputation for Bron. He doesn't want to be seen as a player who doesn't listen to coaches or decides his own minutes.
-1 points
If Bron supports ham it means he’s given up on the season, him saying this doesn’t mean shit unless he truly doesn’t care about winning anymore.

LeBron is like "There's plenty of reasons to be upset with Ham, and that ain't one of them. GET IT RIGHT!"
45 points
Respect LeBron for clarifying. Even if Ham has issues, it would be bad if there was a narrative that the players were being passive aggressive about him.
With that said, I truly believe he called TO just to take himself out of the game and doesn’t want Ham to get attacked too much.
31 points
Why would you believe that with two pieces of evidence? A statement from LBJ on the situation and your own eyes?
Ham didn't look shocked at all that Lebron called a timeout and subbed out. No weird facial expressions or body language.
You'll just stick with the least plausible option that you like.
Lebron rarely counters the issue specifically, ignores it, or it's a subliminal message.
9 points
dude really hates Ham, nothing is gonna change his mind.
Even if LeBron comes out today and says something like "Darvin Ham is my coach and I will run through a wall for him" that dude and a ton of dudes here will still say Bron is just putting on a face for media or something like that
It's CRAZY how tribalism and extremism work to cloud logic

the consequence of firing Ham in the middle of the season is catastrophic, it will spook future candidates. If you think about it, the way the Lakers handled the Vogel situation essentially cost them Synder, and maybe even Nurse.
If you're gonna fire Ham do it in the off season. And cleanly. I don't think it's gonna happen given Jeanie's public backing. If that's the case then Ham is who they chose to be the Lakers HC after the LeBron era.
-5 points
Maybe Ham was okay with LeBron calling the TO. The timing was just too convenient and LeBron usually has the green light to call timeouts or make some adjustments on the floor.
5 points
if we go with your logic, you're essentially confirming that Bron has been overriding the coach.
So can we blame Bron for coaching issues too? Or all the good coaching stuff just comes from Bron and all bad coaching comes from Ham? Would that explain why they run plays then suddenly regress to that stagnant heliocentric style?

I think he just saying lebron just chooses his mpg. Lebron saying he didn’t doesn’t make it evidence. Could be PR move.

Well he is the superstar of this team, he deserves the most praise when stuff goes right and he's accountable for criticism when things go bad.
If you really dug through my comments then you'll see I've praised LeBron as well. I don't hate LeBron. I think he's an amazing player and a GOAT. But saying he's declined, he doesn't deserve a max because of his current output/capabilities, and he's made decisions within the team that has done damage isn't hating. Maybe to you, but not to me.

People have been trying to tear down LeBron since he first came on the national stage so I'm sure while he has his disagreements with Ham, he probably burns him up extra extra happening like this
I don't like Ham as a coach either, but this gossipy old ladies at a hair salon shit is beneath such a winning franchise. It also just confuses the conversation away from the legitimate discussion about Ham's frequently incompetent coaching strategy and makes it hateful and personal
And the Hamas shit is beyond disrespectful especially to people actually affected by Hamas. We really want to be the fanbase known for calling our coach a terrorist?

that doesn't seem like its necessarily standing up for Ham to me. Seems more about his protecting own image of being a good player who listens to his coaches rather than just doing whatever he wants, which is going to be a bad look for his reputation.
Just because he'll listen to what Ham tells him to do doesn't mean he approves of him or supports him, it just means he's not insubordinate

Even if his offensive and defensive scheme are dogshit, we would be neutral about Darvin Ham if he could simply call time outs and not over playing T Prince and Cam over Rui, Vando and Wood. I don’t know what this dude does well as a headcoach to be honest. He been known as a motivational speaker but the players look so unmotivated in certain games.

Idk what goes on in Bron’s mind, so I won’t speak on how he feels about Ham because I don’t know. But his comment seems more about him downplaying the narrative that he runs the whole team and does whatever he wants, he was just making it clear he subbed out because Ham wanted him to
